Prozac

I saw the message about zoloft and thought I would ask about Prozac.  My PCP gave me a prescription for it last week, but I have not started taking it.  Long time ago my doctor gave me some and told some people lost weight taking it.  It did not help me with the weight gain, and I quit taking it.  I am very mildly depressed and have had a few eating binges so I told my doctor about it.  He suggested the Prozac.    Anybody had any experiences with it? I love Prozac. I believe it should be in our drinking water.  LOL It really helps the depression and the best part is that if you stop taking it you have no withdrawal symptoms.  You don't have to be weened off if it. good luck Koukla 338/176

Thanks for the words about not having withdrawal symptoms.  I did not not know that.  I ordered it from my drug program in the the mail.  It is cheaper that way.  I should have it in a few days. Patricia 

Prozac did have an initial appetite-control type affect on me, but that lessened over time. I started taking Topamax for depression and migraines (!) and one of the side effects that I researched was that people who did binge-eating normally lost that compulsion and some had up to a 30% weight loss. Hi, Did the Topamax help your migraines?  I always get one with my period for a 2-3 days, but the last few months, I've had to take Immitrex about 9-10 days straight. Thanks !

Tina,  my migraines lessened with Topamax but at that time I was also prescribed Amiltryptiline for them so I am not totally sure which of those drugs, if not both, were helping! I kept taking the Topamax for a bit because it really did help me to give in to the binging compulsion. -BJ

Thanks for the words about Topamax.  If the prozac does not do the job, I might ask for a prescription for Topamax.  The PCP said prozac has a little pep-you-up in it.  I need that.  He said to take it in the morning, so I can sleep at night. Patricia 

Hello- if I stop taking my prozac , I am a ***** from hell. I doooo have withdrawl symptoms. I have been told by numerous doc's not to stop abruptly...not good. thanks- Chris C
