I am still losing, slowly but losing still. I am 22 months out tommorrow..

I have been told time & time again that between 18 & 24 months that the body settles you stop losing weight and gain about 10 lbs....

I DO NOT want to believe this.... I do not WANT this..

How are you guys doing??

Maybe it's cause I had so much to lose????

PLease give me your feedback, especially those that are over the 2 year Mark!!

You are an inspiration kiddo. I read your page and I saw your struggles. God is good. I have many of my own and I related to your story in many ways.  Don't fall into the bad habits that got us to the starting point of this journey. Stay away from the crackers, dry foods, and be healthy.  I wish you well. Stay connected with the board and read the posts of folks who gained. Find out what not to do. I'm there, but coming back down the other side once again. I went back to the gym.. and backed away from those killer carbs!  Life is good.

I am 2 years out today and I have not gained weight back.  I have not gotten to my personal goal of 165 yet.  I have been at 180 for about 10 months.  I will go up 2+ pounds and back down again, but I never go below.  My body loves 180.  I know we can gain, but I don't focus on this.  I eat well, try to stay active and enjoy my healthy life.  I don't let all the talk about 10% bounce back get me down.

Hi, Tanya!  You're doing great!! I will be 3 years out on 8/18.  I was between 147 and 155 (mostly right around 150) from 1 1/2-2 1/2 years out - and now I'm between 155 and 160 steadily.  I have always written down what I eat and have not changed my eating since the one year mark.  I exercise 6 days a week and have since the start.  I have cut back on my calories, upped my exercise - and I stay right at 155-160 so apparently that's where I'm meant to be and I'm trying to be content w/that.  It's certainly better than 280 which is what I was 3 years ago!! Just keep up your good habits and don't let yourself fall back into old ones and you should be fine!!  Good luck!!!!!

Hugs,
Connie

Full of Life
on 7/14/07 1:18 am - Broken Arrow, OK

I'm 26 mths out now and I've been at goal (or below) for a little over a year now. I tend to bounce between 128 - 130 but I have not gained back any weight.  I've heard a lot about "bounce back weight" at about 2 years. I REFUSE to believe that!!!! It doesn't automatically happen. It happens when people slowly add back in to their diet things that we shouldn't.

I work hard to stay on top of things. I log my food on fitday and if there is a weight increase above 130 pounds I've committed to cutting out foods until I'm back under that. (which hasn't happened to me yet).

Keep your chin up!!! Eat well, get your protein and just enjoy your new life!

HUGS

Hi, I am 2 yrs 4 months post op and i stay at around 145-150. Usually 146. I have not gained ANY back, but it does take hard WORK EVERYDAY!!!! We just can't forget and return to what we see others eat. We are not those others.  It is frustrating and i have added sweets, but my body still protests. For me the biggest SECRETS have been trying to stay at 12 cups of water a day and excersize. I am 5'2" and my body just settled here. It seems this is where i was meant to be. We can maintain, i use the others i personally know who have gained weight as an inspiration not to. For example a girl i worked with had surgery, and then a baby. She used that as an excuse that her pouch stretched allowing her to eat more. SHe is almost back to her pre weight and although i don't see her often, i see she drinks regular coke with her meals 2 no no's and eats candy bars and doesn't excersize. I feel really bad for her. Just as i use her as my motivatr, i try to model good eating for her. I hope we help each other out this way. It is a FIGHT but i believe we can maintain!
Peace and Blessings, Melinda

Hi Tanya, We are both sept. 05 babies.  And I'm still losing weight too.  Slowly but losing. I do believe it is because we are still following the rules. There are some days that I am lax but 9 times out of 10 I still follow the rules.  I still follow 100% the water rules and the protein first rules.  And I do try to have some kind of protein every 3 hours.  This keeps me from not grazing and when I don't do that then I do find myself grazing. Then I hope back on the the rules cart.  and get in gear again. I believe the ones that gain are the ones that stop following the rules. but this is just my opinion. Koukla 338/176
