H find myself drinking everday either a 6 or 12 pack of beer and I don't know how to stop.  I was wondering if anyone out there is going through what I am going through.  I really need some advice.  Anything would be helpful.  If there is anyone out there how do you stop or get back on track. I had my surgery in 2002.

I do know someone who turned to wine every night and she realized it was a problem.  She has been going to a therapist who deals with eating disorders and addictions and has been going to AA.  She is doing great. I honestly believe that 3/4 of the battle is realizing you have a problem. I wish you well.  Be safe.  Be healthy.  Be happy. Hugs, Kathy

Transfer addiction is normal for many wls'ers and I have read here at OH about many people that have turned to alcohol, shopping, gambling, etc. I have always had some OCD and I have found that it is much worse now~I am VERY obsessive about many things in my life and I have no control over the feelings that cause me to do what I do. It is kind of a scary thing b/c I so do  not like feeling out of control. I agree that realizing there's a problem is a HUGE first step. Are you in therapy at all? That might be an avenue to pursue. I have found it to be helpful in many ways and I see someone that specializes in eating disorders so she has quite a bit of insight into why I do what I do. Good Luck and please feel free to come here to reach out if you need anything.

Jennifer: There is an addictions forum on this site that may be of help to you!!  Have you considered talking to your clergy,  Dr,  or attending an AA meeting?   Any of those would be good for support , and information!  From what I've read and heard it is not at all uncommon to transfer addictions, as the other posters have said..  Please talk to someone, and best of luck!!!    DeeAnn R

Hm.  I guess I'm fortunate that I turned to exercise and going back to school.

Hello- As a recovering alcoholic, you must admit you have a problem and seek help if you want to stop. Second of all, do not buy alcohol and go to meetings every day ---God will handle the rest. Blessings to you, Chris C

$20,000 shipping through QVC.  At first it was new shoes, clothes, jewely...things to go with my new weight and look.  I got pretty out of control thinking I deserved it after losing so much weight.  It was all a reward.  I am getting it under control but it is hard.
