Hi everyone, Wow, it has been quite a while since I last posted.  I was wondering, do any of you get abdominal cramping when you eat foods with sugar?  I have alot of problems with cramping and so  I thought I would just check with you to see if this problem is common for people who have had gastric bypass and if we will experience it the rest of our lives?? Thanks, and I hope everyone is doing well, Rhonda Carter

Sometimes especially  if its lactose/sugar **** cream). I don't eat it alot, but I do feel its a slight dumping episode when that happens.

That's interesting...  I always say that chocolate upsets my stomach (I get cramping, bloating, etc.) but now I wonder if its the sugar.  I don't generally have the problem with other foods on the sweet side, but maybe nothing else I eat is as high in sugar as the dark chocolate I sometimes MUST have.  So maybe my answer to your question is YES??

I get the whole 9 yards............dump on even a little pinch of sugar. Get so, so sick I have to hit the bed for 45 mins.

No I go into a comma state (sleeping) for about an hour if I eat too many grams of sugar!  I do believe what ever side affect we have from sugars and fats we will always have them because of the new plumbing! I too have been away....glad to be back!  I feel grounded again.  Support its a good thing! Debbie

Someone told me that if I never have dumped, which I haven't, then something is wrong with my RnY. Is that so?. So I can eat ice cream anytime I want and never have a problem. I do eat low fat/low sugar when I eat it though. I try to keep myself paced appropriately. I have never dumped on anything so my doc said that the RnY did not work well for me. I am considering a revision to a DS, which my doc and his PA approve of whole heartedly and referred me to a surgeon who specializes in revisions to a DS, which they say is better suited for me since I don't dump anyway. No chance of dumping with the DS either and that sounds great to me.

I cramp horribly which is why my dear sweety thinks im nuts for not giving up sugar completely :-)  I have learned to live with the pain and the size 12 jeans (evidently) I do thinks its different for everyone.   Ice cream if I ever have it (rarely) makes me very sleepy.
