When I first got my surgery I posted everyday, serveral times a day and the support I got really helped. I stopped posting when I went back to school and work, so I hope I am welcome back because I need some help!!! Ive gained 12 lbs and I want to stop before its gets to be more than I can handle. I don't have any confidence in my willpower or ability to do this on my own.  I posted about three days ago and it had to go through a moderator before it could be added to the forum. I haven't seen it an have had no emails. whats up with that? I will probably more of a lurker than a poster, but I truely believe that this type of support does help a lot with more than just weight loss.  I am 3 yrs out and did very well with my surgery  and weight loss. I am 59 now and had my surgery at 56. I lost at a good rate at first . I didn't have but 100 to lose and I only lost 80 but I was very satisfied with 80 because I was wearing 8's and 10's and I am 5'5 . I  felt I was in great shape for my age. My skin , stomach and legs weren't saggy or at least not to saggy for a 56 -59 year old. , so my Doctor and I agreed that my  muscle tone would probably suffer if I continued to lose. I didn't go throught this surgery to gain it back so I'v got to get back to the basics,

You are definitely in the right place!  It's easy to forget and pretend that we are "normal" and go back to our old habits.  I gained some back with a pregnancy.  I haven't lost it yet and my baby is almost 2!   But I am still so much healthier than I was!!! I wish you the best of luck getting back to the basics!  You'll find lots of ideas and support on this board! Take care, Laina Lap RNY 9/9/03

It does seem to get harder the farther out that we get. We tend to push the limits or test the waters and then sometimes its hard to get back on the right track. What I always do when this happens is go back to basics~push protein, up my water intake, increase exercise, make sure I'm not drinking w/meals, etc. The tool still works if I work the tool, but I have to make the concious choice to use it. It sounds like you have a pretty busy life, but try to stop in here when you can~I find the support and advice also help me to get my head back on straight! Good Luck!

First of all welcome back and the fact that u are reaching out is a good thing. My suggestion would be, as I am sure other people may tell u this in their posts, is to go back to eating mostly protein and veggies, as well as drinking your daily amount of liquids. Excersise always helps too, especially walking, I believe that my daily walking has contributed to my 110lb weightloss over the last 19 months. Also, if you could get in touch with the nutritionist at your dr's office that would also help in her putting you in the right direction. I also feel, most importantly would be for you to go to a group support meeting if there are any in your area, they are the best places to be whether you are doing good, in a plateau/gained weight, or in a place where you just can't manage it right now and feel the need to get back into the early days post surgery. Please feel free to contact me personally on this website if I can be of any further help. Take care and hang in there.

Thank you for your encouragemnet. I haven't posted in the past few days because I passed a kidney stone (ouch) (Ouch ouch) and I have been laying around recovering and yesterday I was too busy with the family. It really does help having people to type to . I am  starting back to the basics with the protein drinks and the water. I really think that the water is why I passed a stone . I drank a lot more Tuesday than I usually do and also on Monday and I think I might have flushed it out. Do you think that could have happened? Ive got to go . I've got a call

Im back. I know how important exercise is because I was working out with a trainer and walking 5-6 days a week 4 miles and it took 3 or 4 hrs a day of my time. The results were amazing but when I started my new career I can't find the hours in the day to do these things ( I am a real estate agent) I am my bosses assistant and he has hired some more assistants so things may get better for me  and I am going to make more time. I noticed while I was posting that I started out with all the excuses as to why I couldn't but changed it to how Im going too make it work. I think a few days of talking to myself and you guys will get me on the right track again>
