Distal Pancreatectomy
I'm home from Mayo after my distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy on the 25th. They removed 60% of my pancreas and so far, no hypoglycemia and no sugars elevated enough for insulin.
The surgery pain was much like the open RNY but I'm not bouncing back as quickly. But that stands to reason since there is less of me to pull reserves from. Eating is like the beginning of the journey after WLS. I can only do small sips or suffer horrible Roux limb pain. They say this will pass. The good thing is that I've lost 9 pounds of the 15 I'd gained with the hypoglycemia. They spendt 1 1/2 hours just getting rid of adhesions. GRRR. No wonder every thing is grouchy.
Need to go back to my recliner.
Lyn
Lyn, glad to hear you are back home and recovering. I hope that this surgery will take care of all the problems you have been having with your blood sugar levels.
Take care, I hope that you have an uneventfull and speedy recovery. Sher
