Was wondering what is Staple line disruption and/or stoma enlargement.  I lost 85-90lbs and gained about 50 back, I feel like I can eat normal again.  Is this a long procedure what do they do to determine if something is wrong and how long is healing or time off work. Thanks, Jenn

My first thoughts would be, what have you been doing as far as foods and exercise since the 85-90 lb loss? Are you journalling? what is your mode of exercise? what is passing thru your lips?

Stoma enlargement is when the exit from your pouch has gotten bigger allowing food to pass through more easily and faster. It would be determined by your surgeon. Some surgeons are performing endoscopys and injecting a substance around the stoma to form scar tissue to try and decrease the size of the opening, I believe that is an in and out procedure. As for a staple line disruption I believe that would require  some sort of revision surgery, but only a surgeon would be able to tell you about that. What ever is going on you should check with your surgeon and get some help, it may be none of these things but it couldn't hurt to check it out. All the best Sher
