Hi, been a long time since I have been on here, I forgot how much it helps!  I had RNY 4/2002 lots of complications and years trying to bounce back from serious Anemia.... So, here I am, dying to finish the job I started and lose the rest of this weight about another 80lbs. I recently began gaining... After reading some of your posts I have hope again, so many of you are in the same boat as I am wondering why you seem to be the "only one" that you know that had this surgery and is still fat??? I see we all have some similar issues when we gain...  Any words of wisdom on where to begin to get myself on the road to the finish line???

You're right! I came back because I never lost to goal. Still 40 lbs away.... and then I gained 12 lbs. I was horrified. Truth is... I eat half of what I used to eat... but still managed to gain. I have lost 7 of those 12 lbs. I joined the gym.. .and walk 3 miles every morning. I am  pushing those crackers and easy foods away... and just continue to try every day. Not a diet.. but healthy eating. Going to the gym makes me more aware. I go at 5 am... before work... and I have tripled my water intake. It's always a battle for us...and I havent really heard anyone who doesn't experience the same struggles. Hang in there... you are not alone. Keep coming to the board.. and try one thing new each week. First... increase your excercise... then add water... give up something.... One day at a time. Good luck! You're not alone.

Hi Helen, thanks for the words of wisdom.  I am just so tired of people saying "oh, so you already had the surgery 5 yrs ago????" Some will even add, "so it didn't work huh?"     Sometimes I show them my before pic and then they understand, sometimes I just don't care if they understand! The way I see it, even if I NEVER lose another pound, I am still far healthier than before surgery. However, I want to take it to the finish line and know that I am truly in charge of my health and my body.  I am feeling much better since I got my Anemia under control and also I had some pretty serious vitamin deficiencies that have been addressed, added about 3 times the water that I used to drink. (I now realize that I have probably been dehydrated for 40 yrs.!!!!)  So I am adding more exercise and even started doing a belly dancing for weight loss video in the am before work... I am trying to keep busy, you see our daughter just moved into her first apartment an hour and a half away and we just dropped our son off at college 10 hrs away... Empty nest big time!!! So I am going to make this "my time" and do all the things I am supposed to be doing but always put off because I was doing for my kids, job, hubby, dogs, neighbor....you know what I mean, tired of unwittingly putting myself last so that I really have to pay attention to me and try to correct years of damage to my health....

I have anemia too and take B12 shots once a month. What did you do to conquer the anemia?

I had to start getting Iron Infusions at the local hospital. It is called Ferellicit.  I was getting them everyday for a couple weeks then a couple times a month, then once a month now I'm every other month...woohoo!
