riding myself of idols.
I hope this helps someone as it did me. This week at church idols were discussed and how we should but no idols before God. The preacher did a good job by defining an idol as whatever takes over your mind when you are just relaxed and not focuesed on God. Mine was my weight and my need to continually monitor it. For example, i weigh myself at least daily, usually twice. So my idol is the scale. My goal is to rid myself of this idol, thus i have made a commitment not to weigh myself this month, but to gauge my success on what i eat, how i feel, how my cloths fit, how active i am. Isn't that what we should be measuring anyway? I mean health is not a number or a size, my success is not based on what the scale says, but what MY BODY says. So I am putting no idol before God. I hope this touches you like it touched me. I must also say that this is day 2 of riding myself of the idol and it is HARD!
Peace and Blessings, Melinda

I have tried this before too and it can be very beneficial, although hard for me to stick too, LOL! I seem to be able to do it for a short run, but not for the long haul. I guess its all a learning experience though so we just keep plugging along and giving it another try! Thanks for the reminder!
