Alli, A Different Opinion

I'm trying to lose as much as possible before plastics so I decided to try Alli.  It just made sense to me.  Why do we quit losing?  Because we can eat more and our bodies adapt to the malabsorbtion.  Maybe a little more malabsorbtion might squeeze off a few more pounds. 2 weeks ago, I ate mostly lean protein and ran 30 miles.  I lost nothing.  Last week I ate normally and didn't exercise at all.  I took Alli and lost 3lbs.  This stuff looks promising to me. I didn't have any problems with it.  None of the 'treatment effects' they talk about.  Maybe I was just lucky.  This next week I will do Alli and add exercise back in.

I'm a big advocate for everyone doing what works best for them! Glad to hear its going well for you so far! My mom and my neighbor are both trying it out (they have not had wls) and I hope it works for them as well!

I know someone who had WLS three years ago and is using the Alli pill once a day with the meal that has the most fat.  She takes her supplements at different times than Alli and then right before bed.  She has lost 6 lbs. in June and hadn't lost anything since December '06  with 25 lbs until goal this seems promising to her.  She still will get her blood work done next month and that should give her and her doctor any heads of malabsorption.  Good Luck

The effects did take a while to kick in when I was on Xenical.  Once they did, watch out!! I wish you good luck on it. Hope you don't ever have to experience the uncontrollable leakage. Dawn

I wonder about just taking it on the days or meals that you are eating fat.  That way maybe it would help without the leakage?  Just a thought.

I wondered the same thing. My mom usually eats a very low fat breakfast so she  does not take it in the am b/c the info said not to use it with a meal like that, just to skip it for that meal. But, for those struggling with the last 10lbs or struggling to maintain, I wondered if they could just take it with those meals that are healthy, but still a little higher in fat content???? Great question and I hope someone out there has the answer!

I take Alli, with any meals i would consider higher in fat, for example, i had some chinese today and took it with that meal, basically any restaurant meal i consider higher in fat and would take it then. Also, I take it when i can no longer resist and eat something such as chocolate. None of the oily stools or leakage, but i did have thse when i was obese and eating 3-4 times the amount of fatty food. I haven't seen any lb difference yet, but better out then in my arteries. That's my theory!

I have an appointment with Dr. Arreola next Monday and I'm going to ask him then. I have 15 lbs. to lose to goal and thought I might try this but wanted to ask his opinion first.  He had mentioned to me last time that there are other alternatives so I thought I'd find out what they are.  He did tell me to step up my exercise plan and go back to the basics of protein first. Geez why didn't I think of that?!
