Time Out????
Please Help! I plan to begin a time out on Monday. Everything I've read indicates the Protein Drinks should be sugar and carb free. The only Protein drink I have ever tolerated was the Aceive One Lattes. it has 5 grams of carbs, 3.5 grams of sugar, 20 grams of protein, and 120 calories per 9 oz bottle. Can i use this type? With this already being a difficult challenge, I hesitate at the thought of using Protein Drinks I hate.
Heeeeyyyyyy! Another Guy on the board! Good deal!
Well, I use Real Meals...I've used them since having my surgery. Actually, I've never stopped using them.
I think the carb content in the lattes sounds a little high for the Time Out plan but maybe you could just experiment.
I think the whole thing with TO is to get the emotional AND physical addiction to simple sugars under control. I doubt that the drink you are describing would hinder that much. I'd stick with what works for you. I actually ate bites of solid food (meat/cheese) when I felt physical hunger. Not a lot, maybe two or three oz. a day total...and then just stuck with the protein drinks (90-120 grm a day) and lots of water. My problem has always been grabbing those easy to eat carbs! So, 9 days out and I'm back to NORMAL, normal as in a healthy POST-OP gal. I have to always keep that in the front of my mind.
Just stick on the board here and you'll find all kinds of options and ideas. I think the posting daily and checking in daily really helps me the most!
Hope this helped! laurie
I TOTALLY agree about this! As with ANY tool, it depends on how you plan to use it. There are those that wish to follow the surgeon's plan of no solids and only the sugar free/fat free protein drinks for their good reasons, and those who are modifying that to meet their needs individually. The purpose is to regain control, cut out the carbs (detox to an extent) and get back on track. That drink sounds fine, I have been using Atkins (same reason, taste) and it has worked well. Plus, you are a guy and can afford the tiny bit more carbs.
