Gall Bladder Surgery
Ok, I'm 3 yrs post-op. I had Lap RNY. I have been tolsd I need to see a surgeon, and I'm hoping to get the same surgeon that did my RNY, but I was wondering if anyone here has had their gallbladder out in a seperate surgery from their RNY, and how did it go? Were there any problems having laporscopic surgery after you have had previous abdominal surgery? I REALLY don't want an open surgery due to time off work.
I just need some reassurance, I'm really nervous.
Thanks!
I HAD OPEN RNY IN 2001, I HAD MY GALL BLADDER REMOVED IN 2007 IN THE MONTH OF jANUARY, THE DR. DID IT LAPROSCOPICALLY AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. THE ONLY SIDE AFFECT I HAVE FOUND IS SOMETIMES AFTER I EAT I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM QUITE SOON AFTER I GET DONE EATING. BUT THAT DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF FOOD TOO. YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. IT IS QUITE COMMON TO HAVE THE GALL BLADDER REMOVED AFTER WIEGHT LOSS SURGERY

I am five years post-op and am due for gallbladder removal. I am trying to hold off for a few more months. I don't have a lot of pain but my HIDA scan showed poor function and I am full of stones.
Last Monday I celebrated 4 years post-op. This past April (Friday the 13th), I had my gallbladder out. It was done laparoscopically, and I was up and running (well, maybe not "running", but I did go back to work) on Monday.
Best to you ...

Savanah 6 months after my Lap RNY I had a problem with my Intestine which resulted in surgery. Exactly a year lafter I had to have my Gallbladder removed. Both was done Lap and was performed by my Bypass Surgeon. Neither was painful, however immediately following my gallbladder surgery I contracted a nasty Staph Infection which resulted in two additional Hospital Admissions where one of the lap scars was reopened which had to heal from the inside out. Needless to say I was out of work for an extended period with a visiting home nurse. Absent of the Staph Infection, the gallbladder and Hernia Surgery was quick and painless.
