Finished! (One week of Time Out)
Week One: Completed.
Assessment: Success!
I lost 7 pounds!
I originally thought (and stated) that I would skip the second full week of the 3/day protein, but I found that after the 4th day, it got MUCH easier, so I'm continuing on with the 3 per day protein drin****il next Sunday. After that, I'll graduate to the 2/day protein drink plus salad for as long as I can.
Though I tested the waters a few times here and there, I found what many others have said they discovered too: my pouch feels much like it did during the first introduction to solid foods immediately after surgery. This plan is such an important reminder to me that all is not lost - you CAN regain control WITH dignity and support.
Keep on truckin', fellow post-ops - no matter what your status is!

Hello, I am new to this site. I had a gastric sleeve on 6/27/07. Still sore. No pain no gain, I think that is how it goes. Please give me information on the Time Out program. I tell you, right now I am feeling scared and overwhelmed about introducing the new phases in my new life. Please send me information on the plan. I never want to gain too much or even over eat just because I of habit.
Thanks Tonda
congratulations A!
Your post was so well put!!!
I am on day 6 and have lost another three pounds which puts my total at 7 lbs so far! I plan to keep on working with the TO program. I feel soooo relieved for we are able to so easily gain control again. It's such a blessing, isn't it??
I've had a rough morning here....found out Sallie Mae put in the wrong school code for my son's student loan, the school he has chosen to go to doesn't certify the Parent Plus loans, yada yada, so in a nut shell we are at square one with student loans which need to be in place in a month and a 1/2!!! BUT, did I turn to food for comfort, no. Had my protein drink and picked up the paint brush and started painting the trim in my dining room....I had no desire to turn to carbs!!!! It's simply amazing.
Again, congrats to you and everyone else here on the board no matter where you're at in this continued journey! Laurie
Thanks for the post - I am starting today !!! I work at home (transcription) and I am so scared I will just run in the kitchen and grab something when I get the least little bit hungry, like I have been doing, but so far so good ...I made it at Walmart this morning not getting anything I wanted, that's a big step for me too...
I have about 50-60 pounds just to get back to where I was (about 175), and that was a very good place for me. I am going to the gym also as of last week, hopefully these 2 things will jump start the loss...I have plenty of meat/protein sources if I feel I can't get through the day. Did have a link sausage this morning, but doing protein drinks the rest of the day...Wish me luck !!

Deanna,
I just wanted to send you a message that I also had a larger regain than most of our peers. I gained back around 80lbs, but have managed to take off about 25lbs or so by eating more protein, less carbs, and for several weeks a modified "time out" program. I could have lost alot more by now except that I go completely off my plan and binge for a day or two, then get back on for a week. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone in having to still lose 50+lbs. It seems like alot, but if we stick to our guns we'll see it gone before the cool weather hits. Best of luck to you.
Angela
Thanks so much for that ! I definitely have got to get rid of the carb monster...I have been binging like crazy lately. Have really considered the TO plan for a few weeks now since I first heard of it, now that I am doing it today, I plan to do it until Friday and see how I am feeling, and if I add anything it will still just be protein. I love lf sausage, baked fish, tuna, etc....So am using TO to get past a week or so cutting out carbs.
Going to the gym at 4:00 today. The Y here has a wonderful kids program, taking my little bit overweight 10-year-old and skinny 8-year-old...I have a friend about my same weight who is going with me. It is encouraging to have a friend to go with, otherwise I would not go near as often. We have been going almost every day.
Congrats on the 25 lb loss, that is just wonderful !!!! - and thanks again for letting me know it can be done !! Have been feeling like the weight would not budge, but for today I have some willpower and maybe once I have gotten past a week or so without carbs, the weight will come off (and stay off)...
DeAnna
So, now into day 2 - and I at least have the willpower to stay on this (I'm very surprised ! LOL) BUT, I am so shaky today - I did eat a small grilled hamberger patty and some zuccini with onion and cheese (too much of this)....I'm not really hungry feeling at all, but shaky, not faint though, and like my metabolism is slowing down, even though I went to the gym yesterday, and will get some kind of cardio today.
Did you feel shaky (or strange) through the first few days of the TO ? Tell me it gets better.....
DeAnna
PS - I got up the nerve today to weigh and officially at 237, I thought I was closer to 225, but at least now I know and come go from there (I hope down LOL)....So, now I HAVE to do this - desperately want to get below 200 again.....
