help please..time out?
I am over a year out and can eat like a crazy woman again!! I am so sickened by this, I thought I would be able to stop but of course it makes me want to eat even more, back to my old habits! I started out as a size 34 now I am down to a size 18 so I am happy about that but...I still feel like a cow. I need to start over I am still weighing in at 264 and I the scale has not moved in months. I need a jump start and would like to know about "time out" If anyone knows about the diet I would appreciate it. I started looking through old posts but....thanks in advance!

Well, first of all, you have to always REMEMBER that this surgery was a 'tool' and that tool will ALWAYS work for you, for the rest of your life. Even if you stretch it out by eating a lot, you can shrink it again by eating small portions. You can also restart your 'dumping' mechanism by eating proteins and veggies for a few weeks. I know this because I've done it several times in the last six years since my surgery.
However, the willpower has to be your own and you have to want to be thin MORE than you want the food - it's that simple. You're only a year out and you only have six more months at the most for your 'honeymoon' period and then you will REALLY have to buckle down and be tough.
Also, I would venture to say that at least 85% of RNY patients regain some or a LOT of their weight back within 5 years. Most start gaining at the 2 year mark. I have personally gained and lost more than once. However, when I go back to the pouch rules and do what's right, my tool always works and I lose again. Right now, I'm 3 pounds from my lowest weight since surgery and my measurements are smaller than they've ever been since surgery. This time, I've done it by eating only one thing every hour and not allowing myself to get full and I don't eat meals. But that one thing can be a candy bar or whatever I want - I just have to make sure I don't get full. So far, I've dropped 24 pounds and I plan on FINALLY getting to my goal! I used to be a size 32 and now I'm a size 8 and I'm not through yet!
So, don't get discouraged - get motivated! You may be a size 18 but that's still considered a plus size and you can get to a size 10 if you keep on trying! Just remember, when you learned how to ride a bike, the only way you succeeded is to get back up on the bike when you fall and keep on riding! You'll only get to your destination the same way! Get back up and keep riding!
What do you mean to eat only "one thing" and not to get full? I never heard of that concept.

Karen,
I hear ya on the 'full' thing! That is why I got to 325 in the first place! I ALWAYS had to eat until I was miserable ALL the time! And over these six years I've learned that when I get full now, I either stay the same or gain as far as weight so I know that NOT getting full is the key! And when you start eating one thing every hour, you will shrink your stomach and not even know it because you are still feeding your stomach and you're also keeping your metabolism going by giving your body fuel every hour. And you don't feel deprived because you are still getting one thing (even a cookie) that you want so it's not even a diet. Actually it's eating more like 'regular' thin people eat if you think about it! This WILL work I promise!
