TIME OUT QUESTION ABOUT CRAVINGS AND APPETITE

Hi to all, I guess this would be a good question for Pam (if you're out there!!) but I am wondering if, once I am into a few days of the Time Out, if my appetite will disappear as it did in the beginning stages of my weight loss. Sure would be nice! I am fine all day but the evenings and during the night, was tough yesterday. It WAS my first day on Time Out and I AM PMS....actually PMDD but heading towards menapause like a frieght train so I'm sure the hormones are playing a factor. I've noticed my symptoms in that department getting worse. Emotions more strung out, appetite more vigorous, insomnia worse, etc. but haven't even stopped to address the perimenapausal issues with all the other fun stuff on my plate lately.  So, guess my main question is, dare I hope, and pray, that my appetite disappears for a while? Last night I did have a plain, plain hamburger, woke up in the night and had a piece of 15 grain bread with butter (yeah, in the night) but otherwise was perfect all day yesterday and today am doing fine so far...any advice or advance warnings, admonishments, etc. would be appreciate! lbb_yogawoman1

Hi!  I wish I could say the hunger disappears... some people say they honestly have no hunger, I myself feel ravenous late afternoon and late evening. Trying to have a protein shake in the evening (later towards bedtime to keep away muchies) but the afternoon time is tricky - after protein shake around 2pm - I get really hungry around 4pm and it's not head hunger.. it's hunger hunger!!  I have been doing a modified version (eating protein/salad once a day) for 2 weeks and some days are worse than others.. I guess it's very individual - we all have different reactions to this.

I think I am going to do the Time Out with a bit or two of plain meat when the hunger hits. If I even have two or three bits of hamburger I'm satiated for several hours. May do a salmon fillet this evening and have that to nibble on tonight and tomorrow. Seems to be working for me otherwise! thanks Kathy

I agree, do what ever works!  There are no hard and fast rules, we are all different. I know I feel like I have better control over what I am eating.. yes I have slipped up here and there, but I am not feeling quite as out of control and will start to hopefully make more and more changes as I go along. Taking this a day at a time!!   Kathy

Hi, Sorry to reply so late.  I have noticed that my drive to eat has subsided since the 2nd day I think because I have detoxed off carbs.  But I still get hungry, in a more normal way.  Also I know for me that my need to eat in the evening is often tied to boredom.  When my husband and I go for a walk my hunger is much more manageable, is it from walking or from just doing something I'm not sure. Good Luck, Carla

Hi Carla! Thanks for the reply. I am just starting day 3, and have a loss of 4 lbs....and seems like my cravings really subsided last night for the first time! Didn't eat during the night either.....I am certain that my eating in the evenings is due to boredom and probably loneliness....love my hubby to death but he's very quiet (an engineer). I think I need to start focusing on my glass work in the evenings. For some reason I always feel that "evenings" mean I need to sit on the couch in the living room...why? I have no idea....programed into me from when I was a kid probably....today I'll be priming my dining room so I'll be busy! Also need to start walking again....I am doing Leslie S. walking tape with weight resistance. I really like it! I just have to do it every single day or I tend to get away from doing it. Thanks for the support Carla! You have really inspired me to get back to the business of taking care of myself. Laurie
