Hunger at night???
Hello everyone, Well a little about my self. I am a year and half out of RNY and i have lost 160lbs with the surergy. I went from a size 28 down to a size 10 and if feels wonderful. I have noticed that in the last week or so I feel as thought I am wanting to eat at night. I dont have the same urge to eat during the day. I have to work at getting it all in during the day, but i do meet my water and food goals. Im not sure as to why I feel like I need to eat at night right now? I eat what i should during the day, proteins first and vegys. Im really not hungry, my stomach feels full but I notice i keep trying to go get something to eat. I do fight the urge to eat but i dont know if its becouse im missing something in my diet or im bored or is it head hunger. I guess im scared of it cuz i dont want to gain back what i have lost..
Oh I HEAR you! That "head hunger" can drive you crazy. Of course we had it before surgery, we just didn't even think about it, we just dove into whatever we wanted to eat. As long as your BODY is not hungry (like a growly stomach) then it is like you said, boredom, habit, etc. If your body is hungry, a small protein snack will do wonders (like a cheese stick) but if it is "head hunger" then working on coping strategies is the right step (and I am struggling with that one too).
Dont have any junk in your house! If you feel hungry, eat protein snacks. Or dense fruit liek a pear or an apple. The thing about these snacks are you won't eat much of them because it fills you up quickly, and you won't have much room for the junk you're craving. I think this is where we can all go wrong. The urge for foods we used to eat strikes us, and then we have to make that concious decision NOT TO EAT IT> I had this same problem, I almost called for a food delivery without thinking, then it struck me that I wasn't hungry and I didn't really want to eat the food I was craving. I think this is a moment of truth for all of us, can we make smart choices when we're bored, lonely, or old habits show back up.
That is me i do fine during the day but at night i get hungrey. My husband asked me . He said honey we have come to far and worked to hard on this so please if you must eat something eat a gram cracker are a plum are something. That is what i started doing. It works pretty good.
The reason my goal is 200,and the dr's goal is 155. I am taking it one day at a time until i reach my dr's goal Praise God !!!!!.
