Plateau? On a Time Out?

My time out is still going well.  I had a great salad for dinner last night and wasn't at all tempted to eat anything other than my two protein drinks and my salad.  Had lots of liquids as well since it was very hot in north central Texas yesterday. The scales have slowed down - remember those days?  I was a little bummed out about that until I got dressed this morning.  On a whim, I got out a top that I haven't worn in two years.  To my amazement, it fit - and it fit well.  The last time I put it on it was so tight that I wouldn't wear it out of the house.   So it's back to the old situation of the scale slowing down or stopping while the body readjusts itself.  I can't tell you that I'm more than thrilled to be back out of plus sizes - at least in tops.  I still need the larger pants because I have horrid thighs - but that's ok - I'll take it. I was so excited that I tried on several other tops and they fit too - it's not a quirk. So for all of you who are doing Time Outs - or trying  to lose some - remember plateaus happen and usually when they do, our bodies are trying to adjust to the losing. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Patty

I appreciate that, Patty, I have not been focused on the scale this whole time, but when I did check today there wasn't  a difference (but 10lbs down in 12 days, I am NOT complaining). What I did was focus on how my cravings are gone and my clothes are not pulling at the seams, and again refocus that this is my lifestyle-not a diet I am working on.

Sooo true Patty! It's all in how the clothes fit. Plateaus are all a part of it. The main thing is not to get discouraged with a platueau and say "oh, forget it! What's the use? WTH kind of attitude is that! I'm sure I have done that a couple times preop and post op and that is never good! Thanks for your encouraging word!

Hi Patty, I want to join you in doing the Time Out program.......Have one major question..........can I use Unjury instead of the Nectar protien drinks??? I don't like the nectars and I too have gained about 20 pounds. My surgery was 07/13/04. Thanks. Shelly

Shelly, My program was designed by my surgeon - he customizes the Time Outs for each patient - some get a lot more calories than I do.  I have used Unjury in the past but I really don't remember the calorie/protein count on it.  I assume that it would work fine as long as it's not very high calorie.  And I believe that you must do what is right for you - if you don't like the Nectars, then you won't stick with it. You don't mix Unjury with milk do you?  I fear that would add way too many calories - at least it would for me. Patty

Linda, I see you are a fellow Dallasite - hi neighbor. For me, Time Out is a program designed by my surgeon, Dr. Warnock of Wichita Falls, for his patients who have suffered regain after reaching their "goal".  He designs the Time Out for patients on an individual basis depending on how easily they lose or age, etc. My time out started with three protein shakes daily plus all the water and Crystal Lite I could drink.  After two weeks, he changed it to to protein drinks and a salad plus the liquids.  He prefers that I use Nectar or Essence for my protein because it is very low calorie and high protein.   I have been on this for 5 weeks - with a couple of days off and have lost 25 pounds.  I had regained a lot and I lost 16 pounds the first two weeks.  It has slowed drastically now but I am changing sizes - clothes that I haven't worn in two years are fitting now. CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS... Wow I guess this is almost the same s the liquid diet but I think Time out is less shakes through out the day...thanks so much for sharing...I want to try the plateau diet and see if that will help...my body seems to like it where it is at but I still haven't reached goal and have like 30 pounds to go ...

Many Blessings
