I am so sorry this happen to you but I am not at all surprised because still 3 years out, and the fact that I am maintaining well ... people still look at me and say I wish I could take the easy way out.  I am sorry but I am literally 1/2 the person I was and for them to minimize that accomplishment is their own issue not mine... good luck in working on ur maintainance

Wow, that was bold rudeness.  I do agree that you should write and/or call the local leadership about the incident and I believe you should be brave and bold and GO BACK and join the group as you intended.  They have no right to tell anyone they are not welcome to the group.  The whole philosphy of WW is to help people lose weight and maintain their weight loss.  Good luck and be assertive about this incident.  If they turned you down, then they are likely refusing membership to many more people besides you.

WOW! I would be furious too. Do they think that this surgery is a cure and that we don't need some support and help too, especially later on down the road if we do gain some weight back or we just want some help in maintaining our weight? Isn't that what WW is supposed to be about SUPPORT and accountability? Sounds to me like they are all about the money and they are worried that if you share your experience with weightloss surgery  with the other members then you might inspire them to do the same and then they may no longer need WW. I hope that this is just one bad apple on the branch and this isn't the  program's policy.

What a horrid experience however, not all WW's are like that.   I joined a group post op and only my leader knew I had the surgery.  I did attend the group years before so my leader knew me.  She was very supportive and respected my request that no one in the group find out that I had the surgery.  I was the one who felt uncomfortable.  Listing to those individuals struggle.  I did stop going becuase I felt so uncomfortable. BACK TO YOU Not all WW' s leaders and individual are like that.  I would still write the letter to WW but I would also try another meeting.  THey are all over.  However, do not tell them that you had surgery.  Tell them you just want to loose an additional 5 pounds.  If you do that over 6 weeks you then become a lifetime member and can attend the support group meetings for free. But like I said DO NOT MENTION YOUR SURGERY.  What ever you do find support somewhere.  It is so importatnt for us post ops Good Luck Lauretta

Thanks to all of you who posted.  I appreciate all your words of support and encouragement.  I was still fuming when I got home last night but then I thought about my "silver lining" thought process.  I looked for anything positive about the situation at the WW meeting.  It hit me like a ton of lead.  KELLIE you need to start a maintenance program for weight loss surgery patients!!  There is such a need for us all a place to go weigh in with maintenance programs customized to our specific needs.  I am going to do it.  If anybody lives in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area please pm me and just maybe we can start something fresh and new that we all need to badly.  I am still going to write my letter to WW and I will post it here for all of you to read.   Hey when you got lemons make lemonade right?  Well with splenda!

Hi Cheri I saw the bottom of your post with the names of your children and I just wanted to say that I am so sorry about your loss last year.  You surely do have a little angel waiting for you in heaven!  I had a miscarraige when my husband and I first starting trying to have a baby and even though I was only 6-8 weeks at the time, it was horrific for me, so I can't imagine what you went through.  I know God is going to bless you with a healthy beautiful little baby though soon! Take care Lorri

That makes me sooooo mad!  Especially when I think of the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, I gave them in my 10+ battle to loose weight!
