The last 15 pounds

I don’t post that often, but I read often.  I guess I just need to vent today.  I am really struggling with the last 15 pounds.  On July 14, it will be two years since my surgery.  I really wanted to be down to my goal by then.  I have been at the same weight +/- 2 pounds for about 9 months and I really want to get to 165.  Plus, I am getting married to the man of my dreams on November 11 and I want to look good on our honeymoon!

This has been a really amazing two years and I am so thankful for my health and happiness, if those last 15 pounds would take a hike I would be in utopia!

I guess I will just keep fighting the good fight and get real honest with myself about my eating and exercising.

I remember when I was 300 pounds and I said to myself, if I just had 25 pounds to loose I know I could do it.  Here I am with 15 pounds left and it’s killing me!

Just had to vent.

Erin,  I know how you feel.. I got down to 180 in June of 2006 and my goal is 160.  I didn't lose anymore weight for 10 months and then I've dropped down to 172.  I've been sitting at that since the beginning of May.  12 more lbs...Sheesh..I'm over 2 years out now and just really want to lose those last 12.  Anyways, I'm trying.  I keep track of my food every day and try to get my 10000 steps in every day.  I'm happy I at least lost those 8lbs.  Anyways, don't give up.  It's still possible to lose them just seems like it takes longer.

I know exactly what you are feeling Erin. i have about twenty more pounds to lose. I have lost a total of 230 pounds and the last few are coming off so slowly even though i am working out like a fiend and restricting my calories ! I am just trying to be positive and be appreciative of what I have already accomplished.

Congrats on your wedding.. I was married on November 11, 1989. It is a great date for an anniversary...I have about 20 more to lose, and it seems so hard, sometimes I feel like I should eat like we did that first couple weeks after surgery and those last pounds will come off. but it is so hard. Just hang in there, and have a great wedding. Lynn

I hear ya sister, I was fine with my current weight for the longest time but now I have a strong desire to lose at least another 5 pounds, up to 15 pounds and it sure is not easy. I have increased my water drastically, trying to cut out the diet pop (to only have 1-2 a week), watching what I eat and the amounts I eat, trying to not eat when I'm not hungry (just craving something) and also trying to increase my activity level. Have you seen the "time out" diet?  It might be worth a try, but the important thing is to make sure you apply all the important stuff we learned in the beginning. Best of luck to you and congrats on your upcoming wedding! Kerri

I am considered a "lightweight" and had a total of 90 lbs. to lose to get to the ideal weight.  I got to 165 from 233 in July 2006 and have bounced between 160 and 165 for almost a year now.  I admit I have not taken much action to get the last 10-15 off, and everyone says I look great, and I FEEL great, but it sure would be nice to get the rest off.  I feel your pain!

Well I hope it will make u feel better to know that I am almost 3 years out and granted I have about 15-20 lbs in skin hanging around my body... but I sat at the same weight forever before I dropped again just getting me into the 100s... my advice is to increase water and protein in take... ur body will respond to that also remember that if your exercising muscle weighs more than fat... Good luck to ya and we're all here with ya

Thank you so much for all your replies.  It’s good to know that I am not alone in my struggle.   I may try the time out diet next week.  It would be a perfect time because my fiancé will be on a business trip and I won’t have undo temptation!
