Hi guys. So, I've been eating realllllly bad. Really bad. I'm like the self-appointed queen of binge eaters. So, I'm wondering if I can join the "Time Out" club you guys seem to have going. What are the rules? Just protein shakes and liquids? What are the different variations? What protein shakes do you do? How many?  Thanks!

Jazz: Anyone who wants to improve their eating can start their own "time out" !!   I was a latecomer, but from what I'd read the idea started with someone's WLS surgeon.  I believe his recommendation was 3 -4 protein shakes a day, with all the crystal lite, broth, water you want.   The idea is to refocus on our eating.  It was suggested to do this up to two weeks, and then start reintroducing proteins and vegies for meals.  ( the way we're supposed to eat!! )    It helps to post each day to keep us accountable, and encourage each other!   Everyone is doing what works best for them.  Some people have more protein drinks, some have a lite protein and vegie meal each day.  I did all liquids the first day, but was more hungry the second, so I did have 4 oz of meat and 1/3 c vegies for dinner.  What ever works for you!!   It gets us away from the sugar and carbs, and helps get some weight off also.   I am trying to retrain myself to eat the way I'm supposed to most of the time and maybe have the occasional treat, not the other way around, which I have for some time.  That is why I managed to gain 15 lbs     I am happy to say that since Monday I have lost 4 lbs and am hoping for at least 5-6 more!!   Good luck and keep us posted!! Hi Jazz!  You are just *too* cute. I love your hat and I wear them too. Here in the pacific NW where it always rains so dang much hats can really save a bad hair day in a snappy way. Anyway, I am really a "has been" of the time out program that I started out on. If you want to read all about it just click on "latest posts" under my picture and that will take you to all that I have said about it.  I am posting an update in a few minuets about me and my experience with time out! Stay tuned and welcome back to being in tune with your body and what you are feeding it.

My surgeon started me on Time Out about 4 and a half weeks ago.  The first two weeks were 3 Nectar (protein) shakes a day and all the Crystal Lite and water I could force down.  Absolutely NO solid food. After two weeks, he wanted me to drop to two shakes and add a salad (no protein in the salad and low cal, low fat dressing).  I decided that I knew better than he did so I stayed on the all protein for two more weeks.  I didn't lose but two pounds those two weeks after losing 16 the first two weeks. I saw my doctor last weekend and he is insisting that I do the two protein shakes and the salad until I reach my goal (another 23 pounds).  I also add two teaspoons of benefiber to each shake. Hope this helps. Patty

Hi Patty,   My name is Sonja. I am 3.5 years out and have lost 174#. I have gained 8# rather quickly and have started hearing about this TIME OUT Plan. I am curious about your nectar drinks. Mine are only 45-65 calories a piece made with H2O. So is that it? 3X a day? I have another protein drink that I make with soy milk and it comes to 220 cal a shake with 13 carbs and 29 protein.. will this work? Whan you start salad is there any protein in it or just veggies? What's the next step? I never got down below 163 and would like to get to 150-155 I am at 175 currently. Can I get down to that using this plan? Thank you for taking the time to help me. Sonja, You will just have to try your protein to see if it works.  I will tell you about what I use. Nectars and Essence are 90 calories and 23g of protein.  They have NO sugar.  I had three a day so that was a total of 270 calories a day plus whatever I got from Crystal Light.  I do mix some of the Nectars with Crystal Light instead of water so that is an added 5 calories. Salads are veggies only with a fat free dressing.  Absolutely NO protein, especially no cheese. Hope this helps.  As far as whether it will help you get to your goal, I don't know.  I know that I lost rapidly at first and now it's very slow.  Each of us is different - I have a very slow metabolism and it's difficult for me to lose so I have to be very patient.
