Plastic Surgery Pics updated!!

Hi everyone!!  This is a long post, so if you just want to see the pics, here you go... :)  If you want to know more about surgery in Mexico, I have a lot of info on my journal page, and archives and from this surgery as well, below.

I had my breast lift and augmentation done last Thursday.  It went very well, and while I was there he did lipo a little bit (all there was left) of my upper abs...150cc's. :)

He also did a scar revision on my LBL incision in the lower left front of my incision.  It was an easy operation and I am so pleased with everything.  Dr Fuentes is such an artist. :-)  He did not have to do the anchor or crescent incision, because the implants filled up the space so well, and he was able to remove the excess skin around the areola.   

I am so happy, because other doctors had said they would do the anchor incision, and would not have even tried not to do the incision.  I am so thankful because this man has saved me from several unnecessary incisions and I am so thrilled with everything.

On my LBL, 3 stateside docs said they would do the vertical incision with the incision that went all the way around my body.  Dr Fuentes said, nonsense, he could do the LBL without the vertical incision, and if I still had skin to be removed in my upper abs (the reason for the vertical incision from the other docs), he could hide it in my breast lift incision.

  So, when I woke up, he said he did not have to do that because the lipo, and the LBL technique he used back in December, eleminated him having to do the upper ab incision with a breast lift incision as well.  So, I have no scars on my belly at all now, except from a small lap surgery for my bile duct last year!!

He used the high profile, Mentor, cohesive gel implants (gummie bears) so I don't have to worry about silicone jelly...the old kind.  I did not want saline, they tend to wrinkle under the skin, especially in women who are thin, and they can harbour bacteria/mold in the water, and they can burst if you were to get hit on your chest, or accident or something.

 A friend's wife had to have both her saline implants replaced when her 2 yr old son jumped on her chest and popped one.  They have to, because they can't make them match again.  I am very happy with the cohesive gels...if you were to get your boobs cut in 1/2...yikes!  The implants are like a gummie bear, soft, but a solid material.

I am happy to answer any questions!!  The first one I will answer here:  The cost of the Breast Lift/Augmentation, including anesthesia and implants which are $1,000 alone, was $3900, plus $300 for the small liposuction of my upper abs.  If it had been a lot of lipo, it would have been $500 extra.

I paid $5400 for my LBL in December, and that included everything, anesthesia, and all post op care etc..

Hope this helps those of you who are considering going to CosMed in TJ Mexico.  (which by the way are the top plastic surgery clinic in Mexico...the docs were all trained in the USA for their residency and fellowships).

Deb, Ok, stupid question here:  Do they all speak English?  Did you ever feel like you couldn't communicate your needs due to a language barrier, etc?  Also, how long were you in Mexico from consult to being released?   Thanks, Angela

only the night nurse could not....but she could speak some...but I never ever felt like I couldn't communicate.  I know Mucho Dollor is   much pain, and that was enough for me :) The doctors and the other nurses English is so good you cannot even hear an accent, they sound English.  That is because they went to school in the USA and also Dr Q is American, he lives in San Diego, Coronado Island. :) No problemo!

NICE! Wow, you look really amazing and I am so happy to hear about your positive experience with your surgeon. I have heard great things in the past about him. With prices like that ps might actually be attainable for me in the next year. Very inspirational. Thanks so much for sharing.

you are welcome, and yes!!  I was in tears last year thinking I will never get my surgery, I can't possibly get a loan for $40k for just one procedure, or save that much or pay off a loan that large!! So, I was sooo nervous, thinking what the heck am I doing going to Mexico, and I chickened out once, but then after reading all the posts on  www.PlasticSurgeryJourneys.com  and talking with ladies there, I thought it might actually happen.  Well, it has happened, and I can save that money in a few months, not go in debt, and actually I think he is a much more gifted surgeon than the big top doc in Beverly Hills was....he has more experience than Dr Katzen, and I actually think he is better than Dr Katzen, and I thought Dr Katzen was IT for WLS patients.  Not so, there is a doctor who I really do think is better, and I certainly have NEVER talked with one patient of CosMed who has been unhappy, not one.  I have talked to many people who went to Dr Fuentes to fix problems caused by other Stateside docs....he does that a lot. Mexico uses lots of European techniques and supplies/implants/devices, that are not used or approved for use in the USA...FDA, so you get cutting edge techniques and lasers, implants, etc...whereas you won't see them in the USA for 20 years! This year the USA finally approved Cohesive Gel Implants, whereas they have had them in Europe and Mexico for many many years.  I love the Gel implants!!! :) Take care, and yes, you would be very happy with Dr Fuentes or Dr Quiroz. Amazing. Your pictures are just amazing. I am scared to death of surgery.. and I've seen talk shows about the horror of Mexico and surgeries gone bad. You are a good testimonial for this clinic and I'll do some more research. Thanks for sharing.

There are horror stories out there, I had heard them too, but that's because you never hear the good stuff.  CosMed is the exception, and once you talk with the doctors and see it for yourself, you will feel like you are in the states.  The doctor is American, Dr Q.  He lives in San Diego, and drives over everyday.  He went to med school in Mexico, his family is Mexican who moved to the USA when he was a child I think.  They are wealthy, and live on Coronado Island.  Dr Fuentes is Mexican and all of them did a residency in the states and a fellowship in Beverly HIlls.  They are very well trained, and it opened my eyes about the top medical care avialable in Mexico, and how there is an opthomolgist there who American doctors recommend when no one in the states can do what they need to do.  I know that the hospital across the street from the clinic is 80% American occupied, and they have a top cardiology clinic too. Its really okay as long as you do your homework, and know your physician. :) Deb
