Mollie Mae and the TO'ers

I have been sort of lurking on the Time Out issue and have doing my own modified version of Time Out.  Something that was posted yesterday scared the beejeezies out of me.  Molly mentioned someone on the Texas board who had done basically a Time Out.  If I recall, he did straight liquids for something like 17 days and lost excess weight.  But then you said that he regained it all back!  Could you provide details?  Did he go back to his old eating habits, or was his body holding on to every calorie after a prolonged period without solid food?  I'm scared to death now to go off my modified TO, but I know I can't live on shakes forever.

Kris, I think she said he did go back to eating the wrong things right away.  I have been doing a modified version of it too and I have had several days that I have been eating "regular" or even eating the wrong things a few times.  When I have done that, I haven't gained.  I have just stalled right where I was.  The days that I have stayed with the plan I have seen a drop in weight.  So, don't get discouraged.  You said you can't live on shakes forever, but you can live on shakes and small meals of protein and veggies.  Just don't let yourself go back to eating the things you know aren't good for you and make sure to keep your calories where they need to be.  You shouldn't gain, but maintain.  Just my opinion of course, but that has been my experience. Angela is so right on!! I am using this plan to return to basics. After our surgery we had to do liquids and then build from there, then eat protein first, then veggies, carbs last. Doing this is helping return to what the purpose of the procedure was. Not a quick fix or replacement plan, but re-training.

I am a digger. I will dig and dig and dig for info on this whole site and the internet doing my own research on stuff. This is how I came across this guy who used the same Mexican surgeon as me and had a little problem with regain and went on a liquid diet for a few days. So, I emailed him after digging through his 5 month old posts on the subject. He update me that he did expereience a regain and did not specify what he ate or how long. None of this is a suprise to me. I know that WILL happen if I do not track everything, cut out sugar to keep cravings at bay, work out, ect.  Anyway, I really do not know all the specifics of what he did to gain his weight back but I assume he just slipped little by little back to his old habits. The key is to stay on top of it and never let yourself gain another 2-3 pounds without knocking it out before it gets outta hand! Hugs! Molly
