IT'S MONDAY  !!! Hello everyone, hope you all had a good weekend...Big shout out to Sher with a THANK YOU, Sher posted a really awesome recipe for Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms, I made it last night and it was tres' yummy ...Also was in baking mode so made some delish new sf chewy chocolate cookies and of course brownies for the kids (yes I had to taste them too, call me dummy, made me... Here's my food: B - 10 oz choc/coconut Protein on the Go       small sf cherry turnover       1 beef sausage link S - 1 aussie bite       sf peanut butter cup       2 mexican wedding cookies L - 20 oz sf/ff decaf fv & caramel latte       3 bites blueberry soft pretzle S - 1 protein ball       1 sf chocolate cookie D - stuffed portobello mushroom       1/4 cup green bean cassarole S - 4 sf chewy chocolate cookies       2 bites of brownie ( while I was cutting them, should know better) PLUS - 76 oz water/crystal light TOTALS =    Cals - 1391     Fat - 58     Carbs - 146     Protein - 79 Not overall the best food day, was not on track at all AGAIN this weekend ...Darn it!!! I really need to do something about my weekend choices, but truthfully I keep saying this but don't seem too motivated to actually do it , not good I know, but so far knowing does not seem to be making a difference...Definately got to do something about it - so everyone PLEASE do me a favor, when you respond next Friday to this post, remind me that I want to do better on the weekend, tell me, tell me, tell me!!! Need your help on this... Alesia

Weekends are hard for me as well. I try and cook for the kids and give them somthing different. We like to eat breakfast together so I made Mexican eggs and ate with them. Not as much protein as my shake but I like to eat a nice breakfast with them once in while. I remember when I would be lucky if I got off the couch on the weekends and now.. I am always running and going with the family doing things. We had the horse show on Saturday which took all day and than sunday we went to the swap meet to walk around for 4 hours.

I really enjoy cooking now even though I cant always eat it. I like seeing my family eating healthier now so it makes it worth it.

B- Mexican eggs... 250 cals 20 pro
L- left over fajitas with cheese 300 cals 25 pro
S- 4 pieces of hard candy 50 cals.. i know bad
D-
bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with garlic and herb cream cheese.. 3 bites.
twice baked potato.. 1 bite
steamed squash.. 5 bites 250 cals 15 pro

got sick after not sure why this time maybe ate to fast.

S- scoop of ice cream.. its gone so that should stop now.. 110 cals 2 pro

S- pretzels 100 cals 2 pro

1010 calories although I lost most of my dinner and 60 protein..

Not a good day over all. I dont work out on the weekends but I figure I am busy the whole time so that is exercise enough.

Hi Carla,

Man you could be me with this posting, same-same about cooking and eating breakfast with the family, still liking to cook and not enough time on weekends to do it all...Think you did okay with your choices, just did not eat enough... Just keep trying with me, we're going to make it...  Alesia

the calorie thing is so confusing to me.. My trainer is upset with me and says I need to eat more. She said that I am burning muscle right now with the exercising I do and even said she wont move me up to more time until I prove I can eat more. I was only eating 600 calories back in janurary when I started at the gym. Now I am up to 1000 to 1200. I think thats pretty good at least for me..

She put it this way... you are working out sometime 3 hours at a time and my body is starving.... today i did step class 1 hour, pilates 1 hour and trainned with her for 30 minutes. she refused to do an hour with me.

Can this be true.. So how many calories should I be aiming for a day. We dont have the same kind of systems that non wls ppl have. I just dont know.. I dont want to hurt my body either.. Help

Do you have a nutritionist from you WLS program you can check in with, it seems like a simple enough problem to solve if you do that. What it sounds like is you might be one of the many who trade one compusion for another, or am I the first person to mention this to you?  Working out 2-3 hours a day for someone who is not a professional athlete or training for an Ironman competition is abnormal. We use food to dain control and then when that is gone so many turn to something else to control.  Our eventual goal is balance in all things, isn't it? (Challenging though that is!!)

Carla, Someone posted about 2 weeks ago on a website that calculates the amount of cals you need to maintain your current weight, it takes into account height, current weight and activity level...I think you should be looking into this to get a window of daily calories...I know for myself my maintanence window is 1230-1580 cals a day and if I stay in the range with the exercise that I do I find that my weight pretty much stays within the same 1-2 lbs up and down daily...Let me know if you cannot find the posting and I will look for it and see about sending it to you, Sheekelala  also looked into this because she has been getting flack from her nut and doc about eating too little...From what I know your trainer is probably right, if you are not eating at least 1200 cals a day, you are most likely starving your body which causes ketosis or in effect your body eats your muscle to survive - not a good choice...You have obviously been trying to work your self up and if you are up to 1000 now from 600 in the last few months that is great, you've just got to keep building up the ability to eat a little more or at least drink more protein in the form of liquid protein drinks if necessary if for no other reason then to stop the ketosis process from happening and effecting your longterm health... Keep asking questions, keep working on your program, talk to a nut if you can and see if your doc can do a test to see how your protein levels are, this will help determine if you are protein deficient... Hey Alesia! My weekend is a total blur of unplanned eating, no Fitday logging and no exercise.  Had a good time, but no control whatsoever.  I went to a Jazz Festival on Saturday and The Taste of St Louis on Sunday.  Needless to say... I didn't even try.  So, I'm drawing a line in the sand and starting fresh AGAIN! today. I'm with you when it comes to weekends!!! Hugs! Denise

Hi Denise, I think the weekend boat needs to be named THE TITANIC, there seems to be alot of us going down on this ship ...Seriously though, weekends are really challenging...I see your line and I'm watching to see if it will hold...Good luck, we've all come so far, lets stick together, offer support and make it work...I know we can do it... Hi Alesia, Well the scale said 160 today . i did snack last night and did finally record it. i really dont know why i do this.i had noah's fruit snacks, another apple, 2 slices bologna with 2 slices white bread.  i wasnt hungry.i got to stop. i am thinking trying the time out plan today. i just dont know how to control myself sometimes. i dont get sick and wish i did. Anita, I know what you mean about getting out of control sometimes, not hungry at all, but still looking for something to put in my mouth...I think it is a mental thing, I do it when I am really stressing, sometimes I don't even realize it is about stress until hours later then look back and analyze why I just kept eating and realize THIS IS what it was about...

Pull yourself back on track and remember who is running the boat, ITS YOU!!!  You are not really making bad choices, so keep up the good work, the tide will turn in your direction soon...
