Pouch Resetting (Time Out) Update Week ONE is DONE

One week ago I started my time out plan to reset my tummy and my brain and it is really working. I am down at least six pounds and have not weighed yet today (from 165.5 to 159.5 as of yesterday). I have energy, no blood suger surges sending me to the couch or reaching for yet ANOTHER snack to try to fix it. Anyway, I feel absolutely great. I will keep this up for one more week while listening to my body and acting accordingly since I am not under a doctor's care. My neighbor, a doctor can order labs for me if I ask him to but will have to pay out of pocket for it. But I have not had any dizziness, lightheadedness, lack of energy, ect. The only thing is that I am crabby when I sit down at the dinner table and do not eat with my family.  That's my update for today! I know it might seem a little self-important to some of me to keep posting this everyday but in all sincerity...just skip over it when you see the subject line because I need to post this. It really helps me and I value the support of all who are also trying to take back control. It is totally working and is not that hard to stick to without cheating. Pardon the cut and paste from Alesia's Accountability post: I am still in time out and had: Wake up: one cup of coffee with SF creamer B:Nectar Protein Shake (Fuzzy Navel) with a little Sunrise CL L: Cappuccino Protein Shake with a little cinnamon S: Nectar Protein Shake (Fuzzy Navel) with a little Sunrise CL D:Bullion cube while family ate pizza. I can't just abandon them during dinner but they had pizza and that made me very crabby but I stood strong and they loved on me and I got through S:Nectar Protein Shake (Fuzzy Navel) with a little Sunrise CL So, that is a total of 4 shakes and at least 100 ounces of water. I drink all of my water through a Starbucks Venti Cup with a big green straw and it goes down really easy. If I drink CL I have to use an opaque cup as the kids will suck it all down and it stains the carpet. Anyway., I felt great slipping into my loose size 12 GAP chino shorts. They are so cute and were giving me "muffin top" last week. Ya know where the chubby part at the top of lower rise pants puffs out like a muffin top.? I'm sure you have all seen it on some mommy bodies out there trying to be cute and failing miserably, LOL! 252/159.5/135 Happy weekend to all, Molly

Molly, do you do your shakes with water or milk? most of the time i use water or 1/2 c. milk and 1/2 c. water. wow it would be hard for me to give up pizza if my whole family was eating it. i have been pretty good when there are lots of carbs at a meal. i try and not give in since hubby likes pasta too much...  oh they say your not soppose to use straws....  its looking good for you.. anita

I make my shakes with water...pretty much because of the sugars in milk and because I am a typical mommy saving the milk for my babies. It is so expensive.  Re: pizza. yes, my crankiness caught me by suprise but I really concentrated of "serving" my family. I was able to jump up and get more napkins, cut up more pieces of pizza into little inch servings for my DK's jump up and get DH what he needed, ect.  Re: straws and the elusive "they" who say you should not use them My surgeon never mentioned them in my aftercare program and I have been sucking down at least 100 oz of water like this for years now with no ill effects. I can even tell you the places around town that have big, beautiful, nice colorful study straws. What can I say...I am a conosour. Also, a tooth whitening fiend which gives me sensitive teeth! So, a straw helps with that too! LOL!

Molly, About the straws, I think that in the very beginning they can cause air bubbles to pass into the pouch and give us gas, but not as far out as we are.  However, you are absolutely right about the teeth.  My dentist encourages people to use straws because it lessen sensitivity and prevents staining.  Plus your lipstick stays in tact!  I like the Neon flexi-straws myself.  Congratulations on your pouch resetting.  Those are FABULOUS results.  I have been doing the shakes and a salad everyday now.  I like it better because I just don't have the willpower to do shakes alone.  Good luck on your 2nd week.   Angela

Hey Gang! Yesterday was an "off-the-wagon" kind of day.  But today I am right back in the game.   This level of support is MUCHO GRANDE!  I love checking in and being cared about! I ate a few swedish fish candies someone sent me as a thank you which led to more sin and evil as the day progressed!  (Is there a forum for sinful food confessions?)  One step down the path and it was like a flood gate was opened. Anyway............two protein drinks so far today.  Living the good life again............... Happy Friday to all of you! Vicky

Still hanging in there on day five for me.  No weight loss this moring, still three pounds down, but hey, I havent seen the scale move in so long I am quite happy.  The weekends are hard as we go to the drive in each weekend.  (it's so cheap to see two movies at once).  But, Monday I start a normal working day instead of being home on vacation doing nothing.   I think the structured day will only enhance my ability to keep pushing myself on this program.  Once I do go back to food, I will be gettinig free lunch in the hospital cafeteria.  THough I haven't been there yet, I hear they have an awesome salad bar.  That's encouraging too since cafeterias can be brutal!!! Keep it up guys! Rachael
