Be careful watch you wish for...my "time out"

Well gals, I was having trouble committing to the Time Out even though I knew it was recommended by my surgeon, other surgeons, and even some peers on here.  I kept praying for the strength to get my eating under control and for the willpower to stop eating when I am not hungry.   I have learned that your prayers can be answered in ways you weren't expecting.  I got a stomach flu that lasted 2 days!  I couldn't hold down anything bu****er and the very thought of food was repulsive.  I couldn't even drink crystal lite, diet soda, sugar free kool-aid, or broth!  Everything came back up.  I was running a fever and just had to sip water and lay on the couch.  Finally yesterday I kept down 5 saltines with my water.  Then, last night I took the kids to McDonalds so they could play because they were bored to tears.  I had 1 chicken nugget and about 5 fries with some water.  Today I am doing much better AND I am happy to say the cravings are under control.  Today I have had a protein shake and a salad with a little bit of cheese on it.  So I am not completely on "time out", but I am doing a million times better than my normal food intake.  Plus, I don't have that constant thought of "what can I eat next".  It certainly wasn't a pleasant experience, but I do think my pouch and my cravings are reset.   I am happy to start eating a little again with better control. Angela That is great news on finding another method to suit your personal needs!  I too have found another reason to be "ON THE WAGON."  Lately I have been having very bad stomach aches mainly during the night so bad that it wakes me up and I have to walk around.  Feels like someone punched me right smack in the center of my stomach.  I ran this by the Dr and they are leaning toward diagnosing me as having a stomach ulcer, so they put me on ulcer meds which I took last night.  The pain was not there this morning! ( I also have to see a Gastro specialist for a endoscopy.)  I called the Dr back to relay this information and asked if coffee could be the culprit.  Lately I have been drinking a lot of coffee.  I was told that yes, caffeine (even decaf contains caffeine) creates acids in our pouches which in turn could be eating away at the lining of the pouch just like alchohol, CHOCOLATE  (my favorite!), tea, cola etc,  So, guess what?  Today I was very strict as to what I put into my mouth.   For breakfast I had a Fuzzy Navel protein drink, crystal light during the day, at lunch I had some cheese and turkey with a little dressing, some peanuts/cashews as a snack, and dinner will either be turkey and a veggie or another fuzzy navel protein drink.  So, I am sure I will lose some weight befoe I see my surgeon on Monday.  I am lucky because I really only need to lose 10 pounds to get me down to 150 but if I can get to 145 I will be even happier.   So Angela, as you stated above, yes, we should be very careful for what we wish for because we may be granted that wish but not in the way we would have liked. Please keep me posted on your progress with YOUR time out program! Hugs

I was thinking about doing SOMETHING to get my eating back under control, and I found this site and am trying to do a modified "time-out".  I recently found I had very bad heartburn and ended up having pain in the pit of my stomach with swallowing ANYTHING. Realized I might have had too much coffee (and the espresso shot added for energy) and adding Prilosec (and decreasing the coffee and ditching the added espresso) has improved things. But it did help motivate me with the decision to make decision to interrupt my bad habits and get back on track.
