Surgeons or Nuts?
I know that where I had my sugery that there are surgeons who check out this site. They will from time to time check it out.On Plastics board there is one surgeon who explains different aspects of PS.
We has post ops being a year or more out could use some insite into issues that are related to us.The menbers on this broad can only do so much and are a great source of support.
It would be nice to post things that we can do better or stay away from things that could do us some harm without us knowing it.

Hi Bob,
I am not a doctor or nutritionist I just play one in my own mind! But I thought I would say hello and give you my thoughts.
Many doctors pay to be a contributing member of this site in hopes of procuring new patients while lending a much needed helping hand. As kind hearted as they truly are, I really doubt they will chime in here (hey, bariatic surgeons and nutritionists who have time to surf our forum feel free to prove me wrong!) because we are all postop! Not to say they are not all wonderful and helpful but they just are not here because there is nothing in it for them.
Sooo...if you are a doctor or nutritionist come out, come out wherever you are!

The sucess of post op grads could be a HUGE marketing tool for bariatric surgeons!
My surgeon was very good to me prior and post surgery through the first year. His involvement is much less now as my acute care needs are more general health concerns. I am very fortunate to have a PCP who is well versed in the post-op needs of WLS patients.
I do wish (so much) my surgeon's office had utilized a nutrionist who had experience with WLS patients. That aspect of my pre and post surgery care was pitiful!
We are good support. BUT that is what we are, SUPPORT! No one claims to be the medical expert. And as in all things, not everything works for you. I have issues and limitations that others don't face and you have some I don't face.
I have attended two of the regional OH conferences in my area. It was such a valuable experience. Consider getting hooked up on that resource. I am very glad I did!
