Introducing myself ...

Hi there everyone! I've been reading the posts on here and it sure seems like there is a great group of people here!  I hope you don't mind if I join you! I'm one year post RNY, down 143 pounds and resting around the 164 pound mark.  I'd like to go a bit lower but my doctor says no way.  My body fat is down to 20% and they said I just don't need to lose anymore!  Gee, I have never had that problem before!  I've been going to the gym like a fiend and I love it!  I have even been running and I've now run two 5K races, with a third planned for Saturday.  It's exhilerating to me to find out I can physically do all these things I've only ever dreamed about!   My current dilema is that I'm supposedly not eating enough.  My resting metabolic rate is 1800 calories, without exercise.  But since I exercise so much, they said I should eat around 2400 calories just to maintain my weight.  This is where I freak out.  Currently I eat around 1400-1500 calories a day and I am obsessive about counting them and making sure I don't eat too much.  I would like to lose another 10 pounds so in my mind, I think I shouldn't eat more than this.  But I LOVE TO EAT!  I love my food and I find I want to eat a lot more lately.  So, there is my internal battle ... I love to eat and I want to eat, but my mind is telling me no!   Anyway, that is me in a nutshell.  I hope I meet a bunch of nice people here on this forum that I can relate to!  I know we all have our similarities and I find great comfort in knowing I can relate to all of you! Deanna  :)

Welcome, I'm 14 months post op and have lost 110, I was told to eat more too, but I see so many people putting the weight back on so I only eat enough to stop losing. so maybe you should eat a little more but not 2400 cals a day that seems like at to me. I was told to eat around 1300-1500 a day. remember eat to live not live to eat!  hope this helps.  Jackie

I kinda always feel like I'm outta step here, but my take is that you will have nounceback anyway, so where do you want to be when it hits? At goal or maybe even below?

2400 calories? EVery DAY? For a morbidly obese person?

OMG! I'd regain every lb and they'd each bring a freind if I did that. I do just under 2000, but only about 900 in food, 1000 in protein supps. I don't count the protein supps at all. I only worry about the food and of that, only carbs. And of them, only simple carbs.

how many of those calories are the protein powder you use and how many are whatever you mix 'em with?

I'm 13 years out and all it takes is a few well placed sugars to put a big red bullseye on the trail so those pounds can hunt me down and stick to me again! Very frightening.

I will be passing thru Salem, Saturday, actually. Sadly, that's all we do usually, just pass by.

But if I could, I'd live in OR in a nanosecond!

In WA, the individual and small business exist JUST to pay taxes, or so it seems to me!

I see you found the graduate boards. Now we can play over here together as well..

I am not as far out as everyone else but I know you so I will chime in.. I dont think u need that many calories everyday.. i know u exercise and all but that sounds kind of crazy.. at least for now.. I would do what youve been doing moving up slowly and seeing where you land in that happy medium. that way you dont over do it and have to break the habit. Instead you can glide into a calorie count that is working for you.

Glad to see you over here.. now there are three of us posting on the grad board... see you back in the may babies.

Hi Deanna. Welcome to the Graduates Board! I'm almost 2 years out and have been struggling for sometime. I am mainly a lurker but as of today I have been posting. I just felt so bad since I fell off the track. That changed as of yesterday. I know it's all me and I have no one else to blame. I have taken control and that's what matters. Hope to see you here often! Lucy

Oh my goodness, Lucy!  You should feel so very proud of that weight you've lost ... you lost a lot of weight in 2 years!  Don't feel bad for falling off track.  You are human and you deserve a second chance instead of beating yourself up over it.  I'm really glad you posted and I can't wait to get to know you!  I have a feeling you have a wealth of advice to share.  You've been so successful! Deanna  :)

Thanks Deanna! I started the time out plan that others have written about here. I feel so much better when I am back on track. It scared me that I was able to consume the quantities of food that I have. That is why I am retraining my pouch (so to speak). I've got my 2nd surgianniversary next Friday and am seeing my WLS surgeon. I am not going to see him with a gain! I'm hoping to lose a few extra pounds. So I am determined to get through the time out plan! I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again!! Hugs, Lucy
