Pouch Resetting (Time Out) Roll Call...

Ugggghhhhhhhh....... My foolish mistake.  I got busy and didn't get a second protein shake in mid morning.  By eleven, I was below 60 on glucose and beginning to get pretty bad.  I ate some triscuits and leveled off.  I still take insulin (24 hour release in the am) so I have to be "aware." I ate my turkey dipped in mustard at lunch time and drank more water before and then some a bit later too.  So, I reached for the quick fix instead of the doing what I KNOW is best...protein every three hours. Day two and I had to ***** I am feeling ok now.  I didn't over-do the fix so I am not in the post bounce-back haze for the afternoon.   Somedays......  :)

Oh gosh! I am so sorry you had a bad morning with your blood sugars. This is why I am starting to feel guilty for even starting this bandwagon jumping in the first place (posting about it). I am so afraid that people will not be as wise as you and this plan will screw them up. Anyway, glad you are ok now. Just food for thought (hehe)

Molly, No way!  People are responsible for their well being.  We are adults, in age at least!  Actually, the day wasn't bad.  I have some ups and downs with modifying the amount of insulin I take and the cycle of the month.  My PCP knows me well and gives me ranges to make adjustments.  We have a weight goal (actually, a circumference goal of my belly) to take the next plunge to reduce the medication and allow my body to reset its own insulin production, again. I ended up with about 1500 calories for the day, but nearly 150 grams of it in protein.  The scale is moving in the right direction and I made one weak choice in the course of my food intake for the day. Day two was a success! Vicky

Molly I am so glad you are haning in there, as well as you all, I am so appreciative of finding this. I was ready to make a change to regain some control.  I like Atkins shakes, plus it was readily available as I would have to find these nectar shakes. So I had my iced coffee as usual, then 2 shakes for B and L, then decided I needed some additional food for S so I had tuna salad and lettuce. I am having some broth now and will head off to bed to count a successful day 2! THe little headache has been managable and I expect it to be gone in a day or so. Am very glad the carb cravings are going away!!

Yay! That is so great! I wonder if the headaches are from no sugar? Hmm...I will have to research that.
