Pouch Resetting (Time Out) Roll Call!
Nectar may be recommended because it's the only brand he knows! I know some docs only recommend Designer or ProComplex or, or........ because that's who's presented to them.
Nectar is not any better than any other whey powders. Most are safe as far as high protein, low carb, and whey is whey. So, we stick to lactose free, of course.
But if you LIKE Nectar, continue doing it. Just be aware that it's not the only one that works. And for some ppl, it triggers appetite.
I'm not saying there's anything bad about it, at all. It's just not the only one that will work.
When I wrote the original version of this type of plan in the 90's, Nectar didn't even exist yet! LOL We did fine with the whey proteins at the time and since. I introduced Nectar to the WLS world in 2002! There really was life before Nectar. in fact, there were earlier versions of a fruity like whey isolate before Nectars.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
HA!!! I am sooo glad you posted this information. I knew it must not be a new, novel concept. I would love to know if you have had a positive experience with this type of plan and what your take is on it now. I have been doing it since Friday and do not feel like cavining into my sugar cravings as much as I did last week.
I also have not had a single hot flashy/sweaty/heart palpatating sugar crash since I started.
May I come to your support group in Puyallup?
Thanks in advance.
Molly
Well, I've used my own starting over plan several times to get me out of the grip of the carb monster.
It's just hard to stay on a non-food program for long, so I made it something I COULD do, rather than something that would set me up for failure (guilt).
I just wanted to stress that any "acceptable" protein (I guess I only use my own stds for THAT!), will do. Not everyone LIKES the Nectar Family (or IsoFruit or Substance--same, same). I am stricly chocolate myself, so if the protein meets these basic requirements, it's prolly acceptable.
1. whey (isolate, concentrate or blend)
2. 30g of PROTEIN (not scoop size) gives you less than 200 cal; less than 5g sugarsand for under $2/serving, and you can make it in water, it will probably fit the OK list.
OF COURSE YOU CAN COME!

Congratulations on finding a way to take back control of your eating. I am curious about this plan, can you point me to some "research" you found on it? I tried to Google "pouch resetting" and time out and couldn't come up with anything. Thanks and wishing you continued success!
Permanent weight loss requires permanent change.
Oh!
"pouch resetting" is not a very technical term that will be useful in any searches. I just went to the Q&A section of this site and looked up the words "liquid diet" and then looked under the subtopic called something like "long term postops" or "regaining weight" anyway, it took several hours and a lot of digging and dead ends but it is a method that some people suggested on the Q&A's quiet a bit.
Good luck!
Molly

What a great idea, Molly. I'm so up for this, but unfortunately, because I'm so anemic, my doc(s) want me to focus on eating high iron foods. :( So no pouch resetting to me until I get my hematocrit up to reasonable levels. I'm thinking that maybe this fall, once I have my tummy tuck and hernia repair I'll try this; I'll probably feel like crap anyway, so it may be the perfect time.
Best of luck to you. I can feel and relate to your frustration. I'm so glad that you're doing so well with the resetting. Please keep us posted!

I am also anemic and take B12 shots once a month now. There are days when I am incredibly depressed about where I am in this battle against weight. But today... I got up..and dressed for the gym. If nothing else... I plan to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. It's a start and I have to start somewhere.
