When does it stop?

Hi Grads~I am usually a lurker, but I have a question for you all.  I am 8.5 months post-op and have lost 103 pounds.  People are starting to say I look too thin and ask if I have been ill...so I have been wondering if most people's bodies get to a certain weight and then you balance out and stop losing?  I don't think I am too thin-people are just used to seeing me big.  But I do think I am at a good weight for me now, but I keep losing. My surgeon doesn't require us to see a nut, but I will certainly find one if I find myself getting too low...but I was just wondering how some of you grads finished up with your weightloss. Thanks...

This certainly happened to me and I am sure a lot of grads.  It is a phase that will pass all too quickly :-) You may find yourself among those of us fighting every pound after 2-3 years so enjoy!!! BTW, have never heard of anyone disappearing completely!!!!! Kim

I don't think most of us really have to worry about losing too much, although there are a few.  I got the "too thin" comments too, as I was losing, and I think it's just from the shock of seeing someone get so thin, so fast.  People can't handle the difference, and you really do look like a totally different person.  Just make sure you are getting in adequate protein and are eating enough to sustain health.  If it gets too bad, or you really can't stop, I'm sure your doc will give you some ideas on how to handle that.  Increasing carb intake would seem to be the best way to add weight.  Good luck and congrats on your success thus far. Carlita, enjoy the honeymoon period,it will go away and fast.Everyone of us have at some point in this journey have reach this stage.I still get comments even at almost 2 years out,I am too thin. You should be exercising using cardio to help keep weight off.You should add weights to tone your body so people think that this what you should look like.As long as you eat right and exercise you will be fine,I know that most our lives we were told the oppisite. We are too fat not too thin enjoy the ride .....bob

Thanks for the replies everyone!  I was walking my dog yesterday and the thoughts were running thru my head, what if, what if???  I am enjoying this honeymoon phase and dread the times down the road where it may become a struggle again.  I have gotten rid of all my old clothes-I had clothes in my closet in all size ranges-size 10 all the way to size 24.  I have kept these clothes for years as I continued to yo-yo and regain.  I have decided that buying bigger clothes will NOT be an option and I am hoping it will be a motivating factor if I start to regain.  I even got rid of all my favorite scrub tops-they were too big and I have decided I will NOT wear clothes that are too big just because I think they are cute.  I was wearing XXL and now wear a size Small.  This journey is so exciting and some days I still can't believe it.  My head has in no way caught up with my body-I look forward to not feeling fat, even though I know I am not fat anymore.  At my highest weight, I caught my reflection in a set of glass doors and I thought "That poor woman, she is so heavy"  And then I realized, Holy Cr$P, that's me!!!  I never really accepted myself, or let myself truly acknowledge how big I had gotten.  My Mom recently told me that last year at my sister's birthday party, she didn't even recognize me when I arrived.  She hadn't seen me for quite awhile and I had gained alot of weight in between her visits.  The mind is a mysterious thing, is it not?  Well, I am rambling here, but did want to thank those *****sponded.  I shall not worry and continue to enjoy the ride for now!!   Renee

Congratulations on your success Renee! I do think that our bodies find the right weight and then things level off.
