It was not me but I do have a question for you if you don't mind.  My CBC is 3.6, MPV is 7.2 both are low. My  Carbon dioxide is 32 which is high. Any ideas as to why these would be low? I am I not taking enough of something? Thanks for any info, Kim 11/04 268/153

In your CBC, is that your RBC? How are the Hgb & Hct?

Now, with those questions ASKED, I can only tell you that the actual health of the cell is out of my area of knowledge. If we're talking iron or ferritin, I'm your girl. But as to the mean platelet volume or carbon dioxide? Totally clueless.

Those don't jump off the page for a nutritonal issue TO ME, but then again, I pretty much ONLY know Malabsorption, so if it's not one of the malabsorbed items, I'm not the girl for the job.

Wish I could be of more help to you!

Thanks Michelle, I called the doctors office all they said is that you are fine. I told them I wanted an answer and I can't be low on anything and what did it mean. Of course the answer I got was someone will have to call you back and Of course they did not. I wll check with them again today. Kim

Get copies. I think we ALL need a filewith the original op report(s) and all labs, forever. If you can make an Excel type spread sheet, even better. Most docs actually appreciate that.

Put the name of the test and the range and then your pre-op scores in the first box. We then do it backwards. So, my tests from 6 weeks ago will be right next to pre-op onhe left, and January tests on the right. Further right is last summer and so on.

Of course, we don't have all 13 yrs on there! Didn't even HAVE Excel way back when. LOL But we have the pre-op and then the last 5 yrs, give or take.

And newer studies show B12 is "low" at 800. My personal preference is to be over 1000, but I cannot GET back there, even with daily shots. So, I shudder when I watch ppl bring themselves down on purpose, because if you're like me, you can never climb back up there again.

I do get those numbers 2-3 days afer shots, but within 10 days, I'm back down to 700 or so.

Kimberly M., Carbon dioxide is formed from taking calcium carbonate, and interfers with digestion. You may be having problems absorbing some nutrients due to taking a vitamin with calcium carbonate. There may be others reason for the carbon dioxide, not sure what they are.
