I found this article this morning. Another possible bonus for taking those Omega 3/fish oil capsules! http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070523/hl_nm/fish_oil_dc Carol in Charlotte

Thanks Carol, I just want to add that if you take the capsules, you need to pierce them and squeeze them to get the full use of them.  Now, if you are like me the thought of squeezing fish oil into my mouth makes me want to hurl, so I take Coromega (orange flavored "pudding like" dose about the size of a ketchup packet). I take one everyday, you really have to poke holes in it and squeeze them I am sure I will not get that down. Do we not get anything from them if you are just taking them? Thanks, Kim 11/04 168/153

Hi, I have been taking 4 Omega 3 caps for sometime now , but I take it with my hot coffee.  Now don't lay down because you will burp up a fishy taste - I found this one out the hard way. My surgeon said it was very good that I take these pills, with my vitamins.  Thanks for reminding us to take really great care of ourselves.  deb k

The reason fish oil pills are not so great for us is not because of the "shell". It's only gelatin, and saliva breaks those down.

But our absorption of fats/oils is not reliable.

Coromega is emulsified, so not in an oil form. It's like a tsp of pudding, kinda. AND I tested it in my own blood to make SURE it actually absorbs for us.

And it did!

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

That is funny that we have a problem with the  fat part?   I know my husband who had gastric by pass a yr. ago has been taking the Omega 3 and it has worked wonders for his labs.  Go figure - with this surgery they are discovering new "things" about our little pouches and how we absorb vitamins etc.  Thanks for letting me know.
