Update on TimeOut
That is too funny. Actually you are like the 5th person that has said that. I suppose I should write to her and ask to be on a show with her as her little sister or something. You are very sweet to say so, and it made my day!!
I had my nectar earlier and it was a little lumpy...I mixed it with ice...a big no no, so I put it in the blender with my pink lemonade crystal lite, and don't do it!! It got all foamy all over the place!! I can tell you that I have really leaned up on the nectar, and even though I am still eating, I couldn't do the whole liquid thing, but I am meal replacing with it, I really can tell a big difference in how I look, I look leaner.
I will let you guys know when, but my new show, Sunset Tan on E! will be on soon. The premiere of the show will air on the 28th, not sure when my episode will air, but sometime soon I think. I am a little embarassed how the show is being portrayed. Its not how I would have thought it would have been...oh well.
Thanks for the sweet comment, you are doing fabulous!! I want to see your pics!! YOU will get down to 135, don't let it get back a hold of you, you are taking control, and that is what I saw,....just take control, don't let your body dictate to you....you tell it!!
Good Luck,
Deb

Hi Patty,
Remember me too? Something drew me to this forum today and I am glad I did. I see a lot of us have regained some. I don't feel so bad now. I guess rebound is normal.
My husband is in Kuwait. He left last thursday. I am not working and have no family or friends around. So basically my only company is my dog and cats. My husband said that he is using the gym there daily (he's being pushed by his friend). So now I am sitting here thinking that he can't be the only one losing. I went though some old clothes. Clothes I could not fit in now. I can't believe I was that small. Maybe not small to some (size 12) but small to me. At 5'11", it looked good. I just wish I knew that then. I never saw the loss. I'd look in the mirror and still see fat. NOW I know.
I have been finding comfort in food. Especially since my husband left. I am trying to keep myself busy. Obsessively housecleaning. Went though my cabinets and started tossing out half of the pans and dishes I had. But now that I have read your post, I need to start obsessing about my weight. The only way I lost before was by obsessing. Was on my mind all the time. Now I don't even think about it. Hence the 40lb gain.
I am going to go back to the protein drinks. At least trying to sub them for 2 meals. I can't honestly say now that I can do all liquid. I love food and it makes me feel good. The weight gain doesn't. I need to try something. Now that my husband is gone, I have no one to tempt me. So I shoudl take advantage of it.
I use the protein delite. Pineapple flavor. Very good. I mix it with propel water and some frozen strawberries. Put in some sf syrups (usually raspberry and chocolate. Makes it taste like a big tootsie roll). I know it sounds weird but it works. Even my husband likes it.
I have to do something. My willpower is not good though. Not at all. Wish me luck. I am off to the store to get some frozen strawberries. I was going to have a large green salad and some tuna salad for dinner but I am going to give this a go. Thanks for the inspiration!

Gee, it's good to hear from you. I have just recently started posting here again. While I was busy pretending that I wasn't gaining, I didn't post here or on my doctor's site. Once I bit the bullet, got on the scales and got started in the right direction, I knew I needed to return.
Stress sucks - whether it's financial, a loved on overseas or pain or whatever. And we are so well trained to use food to soothe ourselves. Problem with that is the good feeling is short lived but the results of the calories aren't.
I haven't had much trouble with the all liquid. I have, on a few occasions, eaten a few bites of meat while I was preparing dinner for my son but I have managed to stay away from starches and sugars -even natural ones.
I did screw up some last night - I have developed a really bad sore throat and I automatically, without thinking, woke up in the middle of the night and popped a Hall's Honey Lemon cough drop in my mouth. It soothed the throat so much that I used about 5 of them throughout the night. I'm not going to beat myself up over that but it just shows that it's really easy to stray.
I know you must be lonely - but you do have your pets and they can be good company. Come here for support - it really does help when you know that you aren't alone.
Sure is good to see some more of the oldies around.

Patty I suffer from chronic severe pain - and believe me I keep telling myself that food will help it. I am on fentanyl patches (19 times as strong as morphine) and hydrocodone for breakthrough pain - and pain is as difficult to cope with as depression. So we are in the same boat. All we can do is take it one day at a time - otherwise it's too overwhelming.
Dr. W wants me to weigh every day - and then adjust my diet according to the scales - never to gain more than 2 or 3 pounds without going back on all protein til it's gone. Of course that is after I lose all that I've gained. I wish he had used that protocol three years ago.

Patty I am sorry you are in pain all the time. I have pain from a bad tooth that I am getting fixed next week, and also from my bile duct. I am on pain meds quite a lot, but not like you. I am sooo sorry you are in pain.
I will pray for your pain to go away.
You are doing great on the nectar time out. Thanks for letting me know about it online here, as I had some in my cupboard, but did not remember it, and I hated the way it tasted until I mixed it with the pink lemonade. One thing is that when I drink it, it makes me a little jumpy?? Does it do that to you?? Almost like I was when I used to be diabetic. I am not diabetic anymore, but it has a funny little effect on my system, but I am sticking with it.
I had a turkey hot dog for lunch with no bun, and then I had a few handfuls of plain popcorn that my son had....but it hurt my teeth, so that was stupid. Then I had a couple of nuts. For dinner I am having some steak with salad, and I have fresh corn on the cob, but I will cut my off the cob since my teeth are delicate now, and just eat a tiny bit of them with the steak.
Then another nectar drink before bedtime or I might just do a profect protein vial, only 3oz, since I can drink them fast....and they taste horrible too. I think after a year, protein just tastes yucky, but I hold my nose and make myself do it.
Since I am having surgery this week, I know protein is important.
Thanks so much for sharing about the nectar and keep me updated as it motivates me to see everyone on here sharing.
:)
Love,
Deb

Wow, I have not been on OH other than the Plastic Surgery Message Board is so long, and was I surprised to see the postings of people that was on the boards back in 03, and your face is so familiar. Good to see you, and I am so glad that I came to this board today.
I have been having real mind problems with gaining 30 lbs back after almost 4 years. I had my first plastic surgery one year post op, then second the next year and the third round the next year, with foot surgery and sinus and deviated septem surgery thrown in between plastic surgery, and each time you have surgery you are not able to excercise for 4 to 8 weeks, and while you are healing, you eat alot of comfort food, so I know that is how I gained back 30 lbs, but it still makes you feel like you have failed.
I have started back with my excercise and I still do drink protein shakes daily. My problem that makes me feel like a real loser happen about 8 months ago. I kept passing out, without warning, I would be at the store shopping and the next thing I knew the store clerk was asking me if I was okay. The doctors ran all kinds of test, I went to my cardiologist, ended up in the ER several times, then one of my blood test revealed that my A1C blood glueclose was very high. I went to my Encrologist and he told me that my pancras had gone back to not functioning by itself.
Before WLS I was on 100 units of insulin a day, and since the day after WLS I was in total remission. Now I had gained 30 lbs, and my diabetes was back............I felt like a loser and went into depression. My doctor got my blood sugars within normal range with oral medications, and I started to go back to the gym and back to laps in the pool. There is not alot of information about deabetes coming back after a almost 4 year remission, because with the gain in obesity, diabetes coming back would make the insurance companies stop paying for sugeries. My doctor told me that there were alot of skinny people with diabetes, and that me having a 3 1/2 remission from diabets probley saved my life. Now I can feel better about myself, but finding old friends on OH was just icing on the sugar free cake!
I went to my WLS surgeon and he told me that alot of WLS patients do gain a rebound weight and that it was normal to gain 10 to 30 lbs and be healthy.
I do drink atleast two protein shakes daily, and do not eat alot of carbs, or sugar. I can still only eat about 4 oz of food at a meal and I eat protein bars with assortment of different nuts for snacks, so my WLS surgeon told me that I needed to eat more to lose weight. I get shakey if I would only drink protein shakes because my blood sugars drop so low, so I am wondering about that.
Has anyone had some of the same problems.
Cindy Smith
