Is "rebound" inevitable?
I'm always telling myself it's a choice (regain, that is), but it sure doesn't feel like that. I'm looking at abouta 5 pound regain so far. I feel terrible about it. I hate my body sometimes. Over 5 pounds! I"m looking for the answer to this too.
All I can say is good luck and lots of love. I know we can do it!
Hi, I had surgery January 2003 and I started at a weight of 357, my lowest weight was 172 where I did not stay but a few months; I then gained to 177 where I stayed for two years. that was followed by a regain to about 182 where I stayed for a year, and now since January of this year I have gained another 5 pounds and I have been very strict all along. I eat protein, not much carbs if any hardly, I exercise, get plenty of water, and still struggle with this everyday. I do feel like a failure, although I know some weight could recur I truly maintained within that 177-182 range for so long I thought that was the worst of it, but it seems no matter what I do just lately at the four year mark my real "gain troubles began." I have really been miserable and I can say that for the first time since my surgery I feel hopeless again and like the first time I was fat I ate my way there, but now I am having "no benefits" of good eating (which is bad behavior) yet all the same results of eating wrong. I would love to say that rebound can be avoided but if it could It could I have given my all. I lost 185 total pounds and I have regained 15 pounds back so far trying diligently to lose but continue to gain despite all efforts. This is the first summer in years that I do not want to participate and I just hate the way I feel and look and the worse part is I work so hard to lose and still gain. I hope that you will be in the group that does not regain, but for me, I just do not know what else I can do, but I will never give up in this fight.
Christy (((((((hug))))))))) I am glad you arent giving up...... hang in there!

Hi Kris,
I too have a 10 pound "swing".... When I had WLS my goal weight was 125. I swing from 115 to 125 and hate hate hate when I get back to 125...... and work hard to get my weight back down. Since I had WLS in 2003 I feel fairly safe in thinking it is up to me and my eating habits now to keep my weight down. I think you are doing wonderful after a 186 pound weight loss....You are not liking the way you feel in your own skin, so take some steps to get back to the place where you do feel good again..... hugs!

We are at the same point!!! I have gained back 5 lbs and I don't want it to go any higher!! I am doing what you are doing too, watching my carbs, and watching my diet, and trying to be more active, not easy since I am sick.
I am freaking out, so I came over here to see what everyone else is doing, and I think we are all in the same boat. I was hoping to be the one who had to try to keep the weight on, not off :(
I am 19 mos. post op on the 24th of May.
Take care, and good luck!

Hmmm, I like the answer that the lady on here wrote, (sorry can't remember your name, and can't see it while I am typing) that said to do the liquid protein drinks again.
I think I am going to try that. Was it hard to do?? I think I would feel like I am STARVING, huh??
Anyway, I have protein drinks and lots of propel and crystal lite, so I will start that tomorrow.
I have gained back 5, which I know is not much, but it is enough to make me freak out!! Those who said so what, but I know if I let myself gain 5, then it can easily become 5 more and 5 more. I know me, and I hide and wear my weight so well, that it sneaks up on me.
Best to all, and thanks for the back to basics diet info!! I needed to hear that!!
