Hi, Lezlie.  Do you know whether or not you had a "transected RNY"?  If you were not transected (which means that the two stomachs were not stapled apart, but completely cut and sewn off), the possibility of a SLD (staple line disruption) exists.  If this occurs, a large opening between the two stomachs could be created, and you would be able to eat much more and would also experience a lot more hunger.  So if you don't know about this, I would check it out.

Another thing could be your hormonal levels.  Maybe you should have your gyne check out your levels.  Having just gone through a pregnancy, hormones can really get out of whack.  I'm only saying this because the couple of days a month that I am "hormonal" I could eat my way through the house and not bat an eye.  I'm ravenously hungry, and can eat much more than I normally would or could.  Don't discount the role your hormones may be playing here. I do think that a lot of us post-ops are too quick to assume that we're doing something wrong.  There are many times that our surgeries have failed us and not the other way around.  It pays to check out every avenue.  If everything checks out with the surgery and with your hormones, then you might need to look at other possibilities as well. Good luck, Carlita

Please let me mention if you have a high level of activity, and don't eat enough calories to maintain life itself as well as the activity, your metabolism will also slow and hold every calorie. So it's a balancing act. Too low of calories won't help in weight loss. Try to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist.
