Hi Patty, I do remember you! In 2002-2003 when I was getting ready for surgery I remember your posts on the main board. :) I, too, regained and had a lot of life stresses. I have been doing something about it, and I am back to a low carb, high protein diet. I, too, noticed that I am no longer exhausted. In fact, today I rejoined a gym. I need to get moving again. I had left a job where I walked a mile each way to work for one where I had to commute by car, and I got into a very sedentary routine. Now if I eat something with even a little bit of carb, I dump and get super sleepy. Last night I had a caesar salad while out to dinner with my husband. Afterwards I was sleepy and I wound up losing it. That hasn't happened in awhile. I drink a whey protein shake in the morning, and I eat one of the Dannon light & fit carb control yogurts with a scoop of soy protein powder in it. That fills me for lunch now. Best of luck to you and I hope you stick around again. :)

Patty,
So glad your back, I don't post often anymore like I use to, but I do have some of your posts bookmarked. I liked your no nonesense tell it like it is posts. I have a tendancy to do the same, but I get slammed..such is life.

Don't be to hard on yourself, the weight gain happens to most of us, I have a 30 pound regain and struggle to try and get it off or not gain anymore.

Protein shakes will curb the appetitie and the cravings for carbs. The bad thing is, I know all the answers for people.....in one of my posts I asked "how do I just do it"? That's the part that has me stumped.....

Hang in there, we will get it going again. No one can stop the power of us WLS women.

So glad to see you.
Women are angels.
...and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly...on a broomstick.

We are flexible.

Patty it's so good to see you back here where you belong! we've missed you guys something awful. Listen kiddo, like Joann was always saying we all had stomach surgery not brain surgery. Unfortunately I struggle daily with the evil of head hunger. I try very hard to ask myself "am I really hungry or do I need more water?". It's more times than not that I just haven't gotten my water in........Sometimes I listen and sometimes I just want to eat!!!! Your post has opened my eyes to my own vulnerabilities so I am enormously grateful to you for that. Please don't be a stranger because you have so much to offer all of us. Some will agree some won't want to admit it but all need to hear! Pam R

Hi Patty,

I am relatively new as I had my surgery one year ago tomorrow (I can't believe it), but your story is so important for all of us to hear.  I hope  you keep posting, I hope you keep coming on and sharing with others and I hope you, like the rest of us, can get inspiration to stay on track from this messge board.

Nice to meet ya'

Lou

Hi, Patti!  I do indeed remember you.  In fact, you were one of my biggest inspirations when I first came to OH.  I am so pleased to see you back here again.  You have really been through some tough times, Patti.  Thank you for sharing your story with us.  I hope that you're back on the right track now and that you'll stay and post here more often. Hugs, Carlita

Patty do you put any fruit in your protein shakes. I use vanilla protein powder and a banana with it in the mornng and strawberries at noon. What nectar protein do you use?

No, I don't use anything bu****er and some Crystal Light powder.  I use Roadside Lemonade, Fuzzy Navel and Cappucino Latte.  The purpose of this is to keep the calories as low as possible. I make the Fuzzy Navel with Orange Crystal Light (actually, I use the Great Value from WalMart) and I add a little Strawberry Powder (again, Great Value's version of Crystal Light) to the Lemonade to make Strawberry Lemonade.  Sometimes I add a little Sugar Free DaVinci Hazlenut or Vanilla Syrup to the Cappucino. I get a total of 270 calories a day from the shakes and that is all I get other than the calories in my Crystal Light that I drink all day long. I notice you are in Grand Prairie - I live in Dallas - hello neighbor. Patty

You really don't get many calories in a day, you are not hungry with such a low calorie intake.. I don't post here very often, i just  read what other peolple have to say and take advice from their posts. i noticed you had your surgery in Wichita Fall , I was raised just south of there.I tried those flavors you mentioned , but they make me have a sick feeling.

I rarely have a hunger twinge and when I do, if it's not time for protein, I drink some Crystal Light and that takes care of it.  But, mostly, I have no interest in food -it's like being a new post-op without the pain and incision. Yes, I had surgery by Dr. Warnock in Wichita Falls and I am so glad that I went from Dallas to WF to have it done - he is the best.  Even over 5 years post-op, all I have to do is pick up the phone and he's there for me.
