How to stop weight loss

I'm one of those people who didn't have alot to lose, but I'm now to the point where I want to slow down the loss and/or stop losing.  Problem is, I'm only 6 months out and at goal.  I know I will continue to lose for sometime, but at the rate I'm going (approx 10 lbs. per month), I'll be in the underweight category in 2 months.  I've been increasing my calories but I want to do it the right way.  I have a call in to my surgeon to talk to him but in the meantime, I was wondering if any of you have experienced losing too much and what you did about it. Thanks for any insight you can give me.

Try slowly increasing your carbs (but keep them the good ones) to a point where you stop losing.   Sally

I'm right there with you.  I'm to the point where I'm too thin.  Never thought that would happen to me. My surgeon first had me increase my calories slowly.  I started reintroducing good carbs (fresh fruits and veggies) and good fats (peanut butter, etc) and am still losing.  Just a few weeks ago my surgeon suggested that I start adding even more carbs (potatoes & grains) and even more fat.   I've slowed my loss quite a bit.  I only lost 2 lbs last month.  But, that's 2 lbs I didn't want to lose.  I've lost another pound already this month.   My advice, add a snack a day.  Make is good carbs or good fats.  Wait a week.  See what happens.  If you need to, add another snack.  I'm eating 3 meals and 3 snacks.

My instinct is to NEVER try to stop the loss. It comes back soon enough. And you're not done. How much protein supplement are you using? It can help you lose or stabilize, and I have no clue how it knows WHICH to do.

Thing is, if you are adding carbs/calories/servings, eventually you'l have to back off 'em. AND you want to maintain your muscle and bone, but have the fat stay gone. So, adding carbs doesn't help the muscle & bone, but can add fatty tissue.

I also lost down too far. My doc wisely never said much of anything, even when I asked him. And I'm glad none of us did anything to stop it, since there was a 10# bounceback at the end.

Then the fight for the rest of my life began, actually.

I agree with Vitalady - this subject is posted fairly frequently and does make me smile - I'm looking forward to the first one that says someone has disappeared comletely!!  All too soon you will be joining us in the "trying not to regain" set and asking for suggestions on how to get back to your lowest weight - trust me! Enjoy this phase of your journey for this is what it is, a phase - it really won't go on forever - your body will settle at a weight at which it is happy and so long as you are eating as recommended, it will not continue to lose.
