I know I was having the same problem and it was my Iron, so I had to start taking Iron and it seem to work pretty fast, so hang in there, if it is your Iron it should be taking hold soon

IF you dont start feeling better soon I would see your doc.. if you are still having problems absorbing it you could get an infusion of iron that will help a great deal.

Calcium 2x per day? Did they test your vit D level?

Iron usually turns in 3-4 days if you are using the right iron. Vit A prolly wouldn't "feel" different. If it's in a little gold "ball" with oil inside, it won't have any effect at all. We need dry form retinol type A. Are you doing 2 multis?

What are your iron and B12 levels? Monthly may not be enough on B12 to hold levels near 1000. And, as I said, if the iron is the wrong type or not enough, you wouldn't feel any change.

The calcium and lack of separate D worry me, though, since we need 2000mg or more of calc and dry form vit D3, measured in the thousands of units, not hundreds

Get copies. You're entitled. Are the A soft gels with oil inside? The calcium, Citracal? 2 pills = 630mg? So, you're taking a total of 4 pills to get 1260?

Get copies. I'm kinda wondering what they ran. If your A is low, the D is lower, I'm thinking and the PTH is high.

Neither the iron nor the A are the most absorbable type. Did anyone tell you that iron has to be taken with vit C, alone together for at least an hour? No dairy, caffeine, eggs, whole grains, other vites, minerals or meds.

Well, let's see. I've been doing what I do since 1995, work with literally thousands of "us", finding out what works, what doesn't for the majority. I attend conferences, read studies, speak to groups, write stuff and am active in the long term group on Yahoo. I work with ppl who've had all the surgeries (even the more primitive models), and have brought several to my doc here to be "fixed" from broken or poorly done surgeries. And that's a whole OTHER topic.

I have the most malabsorptive of the RNY family, so my doc taught a lot about how to supplement around that issue. I didn't think others needed what I needed, but after a few years, I noticed the issues were the SAME for both of us, but the more conservative ones were easier to fix.

So, my special area of interest is malabsorption and how to fix it. The most absorbable form of vites for us, and so on. You're thinking "Liquid or chewable, right?" No, it's what's IN them that makes the difference. D has to be D3, A has to be retinol, and so on. There's plenty of science to explain why, but when asked, I can do a much shorter version of "why".

My surg coordinator said we should be taking ferrous fumerate ( iron) with vit C (helps absorb better) I get Vitron - C  . I found it at the local CVS or Eckerd Drug store. She gave me this paper also . You may want to check it out and ask your doctor what he/she thinks... http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/Ready4Achange/?action =view¤t=list.jpg I was feeling "yucky" and started taking B-100 vits. Don't know if it's helping but I don't feel as "absent minded" as I did before. I'll have to wait till I get my labs taken to see if there has been any difference. Sandy
