Ferritin Question
I know you didn't address this to me, but I can tell you what I have seen. Altho hemas will often say to d/c oral irons, some ppl have continued anyway, experimenting with various irons and combos, as Rita has said, and finding that they can stretch the time between infusions further and further. One of my friends was having iron SHOTS weekly, as she went into surgery with very low iron. She stayed with a combo of orals and is doing VERY well.
She had a ferritin of 9 when she started and now holds it at about 250, still taking her combo of orals and she has not had an iron shot since Thanksgiving! A far cry from weekly, I'd say. But it took a few years to get everything pumped up nicely.
For me, my insurance probably would not pay if they can hang anemia on WLS, so I live in terror of the day my iron doesn't stay where it is. But for now, iron is around 80, ferritin pushing 200. I take 12 Tender Iron with vit C per day (all at the same time)

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
I could take 2 of another kind and get the same mg, but they don't like me and frankly, haven't seen great results with them when I tried them 10- yrs ago. I like the Tenders cuz they don't hurt me and they're cheap, small, chew or swallow AND they've given us great numbers.
Number of pills cannot scare me! LOL Been doing this WAY too long for that.
Needing iron is an automatic part of WLS, so the trick is FINDING one that works AND agrees with you.
