I still have a hard time with meat about 50% of the time~its a terrible feeling. Sometimes it gets stuck and I either have to throw it up or wait for it to pass (terribly painful). Other times it passes thru fine but my tummy just feels terrible for a few hours. Its almost like I can feel it struggling to work at digesting the meat and it has to work so hard at it that its painful. After these episodes I always stick with soft foods for awhile~cottage cheese, yogurt, s/f pudding etc~until things calm down. Hope you feel better soon!

I eat meat all the time and I still have problems if I dont chew it to death and eat slowly. I have had more than a few occassions where I had no choice but to bring it back up to get relief. I dont have an ulcer but I am sure that hurts.. I hope they get that fixed so u can at least have comfort from that..

I'm OK with most meats, although they need to be really soft and tender.  Pasta has become a big NO-NO for me though.  The last several times I tried it, I felt sick and threw up.  I was eating a little pasta for a while (about 1 year after surgery until about 6 months ago), but I think I'm just going to avoid it from now on.  I usually don't eat much after I have a episode like that, and it's usually in the evenings after dinner, so I won't eat anything else until the next day when this happens.

I thought I was the only one who couldnt tolerate pasta!  I can eat ANYTHING under the sun, except for pasta - still dont understand why tho.  Have a great day ladies!    Deb

pasta has to be over cooked, the reason it doesn't agree with us is because it is a starch and it grows in your tummy and fills it up fast, that is why you have to over cook it

Hi Deb! I finally found someone who has the same situation as I do!  I can eat almost anything too (ok, except meat...) but I cannot eat pasta!  If I do, then it makes me throw up. Are you able to eat sugar?  I can and that is not good!!!  I don't even get dumping syndrome anymore although I used to....isn't that weird?  Well, good luck to you! Lorri

I still have a problem with any meat that is too dry. I lost it on some chicken susage the other night. I ate the leftovers cold in a salad a couple of days later and it was fine. But I think it was because it had salad dressing with it. I just never quite know how my tummy is going to react. But most of the time it is fine. And like everyone else, after an episode, all I want is soft,"Safe" food. Ha ha. Sara

Hi, I am almost 5 years post op and I noticed that if I try to eat meat, the exact same thing happens.  At first I thought it was strange because I can tolerate sugar (I know, not good!) so I assumed I would pretty much tolerate anything but I found out that is not the case.  I ordered a steak for lunch not too long ago and after a few bites, I had to go throw up!  It is obviously the protein that is hard to tolerate.   So you are not alone, but maybe try to eat smaller bites and see if that helps.  Good luck to you. oh, by the way, your weight loss is awesome!!!  Keep up the good work!
