My fear has become reality - gained weight

Cathy, I'm right there with you and understand completely.   I'm four years out this month and my lowest weight was 175 and I'm at 200 right now.  It's very depressing, but it's also better than being at 314 where I was when I started this journey.   My downfall isn't so much the sweets, although I crave them more since I've had the surgery, but just snacking too much.  I'm a snacker! I've started walking again and started to watch what I eat and I'm down 5 pounds already.  It's a start! Take care, Vickie

Vickie, Congrats on losing the 5 lbs.  That is great news and gives me some hope that i can head in that direction.  I'm a snacker also.  It's a battle every day.  Last night I didn't eat after 8 p.m.  I'm trying to not eat after 7 p.m. and control my snacking. My weight began at 308 lbs and everytime I see an older picture I am in shock.  I still find myself looking at other women and compare myself to try to figure out what size I really am.  I never use to think that I was that fat until I seen pictures and now I am not sure if I look normal or fat. It is a daily battle, this weight and mind playing that I do. Blessings to you Cathy

Hi Cathy, you've gotten some real good advice here and I don't have anything to add except two words: CHEWING GUM!!!!! I know where you are coming from.  I get incredible inpulses to eat when I am not hungry just because I am bored and want something to put in my mouth.  Sticking in a couple pieces of s/f Trident rather than pretzels, crackers, etc has saved me countless calories and carbs.  Don't get me wrong, sometimes the urge to eat wins out, but when I am most successful with my eating is when I've gone through a pack ot two of s/f gum a day. Good luck! Hugs, Tracy

Just read your post Cathy, and can sympathize with you. Im 20 months out, and have gained about 8 pounds recently, due to sugar cravings. Cookies are my downfall, and since the grandkids have moved in, are a constant battle. However, this morning I have decided enough is enough,,and started detoxing my body of the carbs. After about 3 days the sugar cravings will stop. I know that from experience. And upping the water will help too. You said you need to find an exercise you can do in the house. I have a good one. I bought a DVD by Leslie Sansone titled Walk the Walk,,and she also has Walk Away the Pounds,,it is in home walking,,and very very good. Each DVD has a 1 mile as well as a 2 mile walk in it. You can work your way up. It doesnt take alot of room in your house, and it really works up a sweat. The one mile walk takes 18 minutes. Check out EBAY, they have several of her things on there. She also has weight training and Pilates dvds. Good luck and remember,,the longest journey starts with the first step!! We can do this! Blessings Betsy
