Wendy, happy 2nd anniversary! You have done great maintaining your weight loss and look wonderful. Keeping off the weight is the one issue everyone has concerns about.  I am one year out this month, not quite where I would like to be but none the less feeling so much healthier and happy. Do you have any advice for someone like me? All the best for your continued success. Sher

Sher,   Congrats on your one year success!  You've come a long way........and the only advice I have for you is the only advice I give myself............take it one day at a time, and don't give up because you slip up. I'm the worst in the world for giving up if I make one little mistake.....I tend to throw up my hands and say , "Oh well, there's no sense in trying anymore, I have already messed up, might as well not try doing what I am suppose to...". It's taken me most of my life to learn I don't have to be perfect, and yes, I still slip up and fall back into my old habits and beat myself down, but I'm getting better at forgiving myself so I can move forward.  You can too.  Look at what you have done already!! Happy Anniversary Wendy, I think the majority of the grads worry about regain....I've gained 9 lbs from my lowest weight and although I know I look better at this weight I still want to weigh 119 lbs *sigh*. Just remember you have a tool now and if we work the tool like we should we can remain successful. Best wishes, Dana

Happy Two Year Surgiversary, Wendy, I know how you feel, I am only a couple of weeks away from two, myself.  I have been in total shock to be below my goal, as my doctor never gave me any hope I would get here.  I started out with a BMI over 58, and over 50 years old, and being obese my entire life.  So, now I live in daily fear of regain.  I mean, big time fear.  When I get on the scale, I say to myself, "ok, is this the day the return of the old Deb begins?"  I don't think I could deal with that.  For now, I still exercise religiously four days a week, but worry about an injury sidelining me.  I don't think it is mentally healthy to be so focused on this one issue, but I also think the day I become complacent about my weight and habits is the day it is over.  Sigh. Oh Debra,  I feel your fear!  I am also over 50.........fifty-five to be exact and short to boot!!   So I was amazed that I lost as much weight as I did, so keeping it off is more than a real fear, statisticly it ain't gonna' be easy! I haven't been obese most of my life but  we have had a long affair which ended badly.....and like most bad affairs, I haven't gotten over it yet.  But I'm working on it.  I could live with out the obesity in my life, but it's the food I miss.  Food was my friend.  Ahh food................sweet memories...... Congratulations!  It must feel great to be 2 years out!  I am 16 mos. out and can relate to your "bad days" and bad habits.  I eat too many sweets.  But I am still having two protein drinks a day.  I'm at my goal weight (126 lbs.) and feel absolutely great!  I walk 4 miles every single day (haven't missed a day in 16 mos.).  In other words, I have a completely different lifestyle now.  I am able to work again, etc.  I don't like it when I overeat, but it happens about once a week, and I learn until I do it again.  I'm working on it.  Just remember, "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels".  Happy anniversary!  The best to you.
