Accountability - What did you eat, Friday 4/20?
Alesia,
Get ready to cringe.......
I have not lost any weight in a long time. That is OK but I wouldn't mind losing another 20 pounds. I can eat anything I want, but try not to. Anyway, I went to the nutritionist last week, who told me I was starving. Imagine that. I was consuming about 1500 calories a day. The nutritionist said I need 3400 calories to maintain my weight in a healthy fashion, and that, at 1500 calories, I have been in starvation mode for quite some time. That is strange, because, even at 1500 calories, I felt very guilty about how much I was eating, and it was a little scary. She recommended 2400 calories a day, eating 6-7 meals of 300-400 calories each, 150 carbs and at least 80g protein.
So, my Friday diet was::
8 a.m. - burrito (flour tortilla, 1/2 cup ground beef, 3 oz cheese, peppers and onions 1/4 cup rice and tomatoes)
10 a.m.- Dannon Light and Fit yogurt, 2 oz cheese, 8 crackers
noon - Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine frozen meal
2 p.m. - frozen chimichanga (300 cals, 19g protein)
4 p.m. - 1/2 barilla plus pasta with sauce (1/2 cup ground beef, peppers, onions, tomatoes) and lots of cheese
7 p.m. - 4 oz filet mignon with some veg and starch
9 p.m. - Dannon Light N Fit Yogurt and 3 cups popcorn
11 p.m. - Cheeseburger
Additionally, I drank about 96 oz of coffee a day, 64 oz calorie free beverages (water, crystal light, diet sprite, etc)

Whooo Carrie,
I'm not cringing, but I am wondering...1500 cals seems so in line with what so many other people post as average daily intake at several years post op, one hopes the Nut is experienced in WLS patients when she recommends 3400 cals a day to maintain, especially as even nutricianal label info is based on 2000 cals a day...Was wondering if you exercise heavily and therefore are burning alot of extra cals and that is part of what is motivating her recommendation...Anyway, only thing I know for sure is we all are different and each of us must find the right mix for ourselves as individuals, you are doing your part to find your perfect mix, keep posting with us and keep us up to date on how it is going, I will be listening for you...
Alesia : start 249 / surgeon's goal 138 / current 142
Hi Alesia,
It was the nutritionist at the surgeon's office. 2,000 calories is what an average woman of average weight needs to maintain. I weigh a lot more, so, therefore, need a lot more calories. I work 70-80 hours a week, play raquetball an hour a day, kick box 1 hr 2-3 times a week, and walk 10 miles a week. And I weigh 217 now. Lost 10 pounds Sat-Sat, and lost 3 pounds since yesterday (spent all day at the amusement park, but ate all the junk - fried dough, cheeseburger, homemade french fries).
