so if you do 6 shakes a day. all the protein wont make you gain weight? can you give me sample meal you do. the 4 meals and 2 more meal like and the 2 snack like meals.?
i do weigh and use my measuring cups for food. i will try jus****er for my protein shakes. i did have 1/2 cup skim milk and 1/2 cup water today for my shake and 2 ice cubes. it wasnt bad. thanks for all your help. i'm eating supper now . i just got back from the hospital wellness ceter gym for us gastric bypass patients. thanks again.. anita
Apparently not. Now, for sure, I am distal, as in very very distal, but that doesn't make me bullet proof! If I get fraternizing with sugar, I gain immediately. So, I basically do protein, food, protein, food, etc. My bfast is 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1/2 pc toast. I've already had 60g protein in supplement by then. Then protein. Then next, I may have a few apple slices. Or if it's lunch, I'm enchanted with salads lately. Normal fat dressing. (Fat free stuff makes me want to eat everything in sight & studies show there is better wt loss with moderate use of normal fats). Sometimes a deli sandwich, just love those veggies. Dinner last night was shepherd's pie. Don't know how you make it but mine is ground beef and gravy on the bottom, can of corn in the middle (I like peas, dh likes corn) and mashed potatoes on top (no milk). I had a small serving cuz I like PEAS in it. LOL today lunch was a protein bar, 32g protein, 0g sugar. Snack is (now) way low carb yogurt. Tastes like dirt. Won't be doing this again. LOL tonight is dinner on the road, so maybe a salad from Taco Bell? I'm no overly fond of meat or fish, and I'd prefer carbs all day and all night, but THAT won't work, so I truly do love veggies, so that's what I do. My surgery was 1994. My husband was 1995. Both of us stay within 10 lbs of where we've been all this time. Only deviations have been our brief affairs with SUGAR.
BTW, my portions are still small, because I usually do a protein just befor eating. I'm a volume eater, so it's important to turn off my swtich before I eat too much and the protein helps with that. I never was a grazer, but if I have had sugar or something fat free and I WANT, I use protein to make me not suddenly think grazing is ok. I get 4 feedings, that's it. I take my vites when I eat and I eat when I take my vites. If I don't have any vites to take, so sorry, no food.
I drink water in between all that. Sounds complicated, but it's not, but maybe cuz I've been dong it for so long.
thank you again. i dont know what you mean by distal. alli know is i had open rny. oh gees when i eat bacon it says for 1 serving is 3 slices. maybe i should have one slice also. i do buy the lite wheat bread and sometimes have bread. maybe a sanwhich. i have started fitdaybut i do have to keep it up or i will overeat and snack i guess graze you call it. you and your husband look wonderful! so far now since i ate this is what fitday says. i will have a snack orsomething to make my calories 1000.

My bypass is more radical, but mine was pen RNY, too. Are you kidding? Lap RNY was still a dream in the olden days! LOL
Our instructons are way different than any other plans I've seen here. Dieticians worry that we won't get enough calories right from day 1. Sooo, when was there EVER a calorie in the room that didn't jump right on me and turn into fat? I don't want a full load of them if I want to lose wt, right? So, we do 4-6 meals of 1 oz each until goal wt, with the object being to keep your pouch as tiny as possible until you're done losing. And of course, protein drinks. Most do 3-5. I just prefer 6 cuz it gives me more control over the food.
Fitday doesn'thelp me at all. It doesn't tell me SUGAR. Only carbs. I never counted calories or fats (we malasborb fats). One day I did it just so I'd have a ballpark and I did about 900 in protein & 900 in food. However, I have no reason to think the protein would ever add wt unless I was malnourished. And the 900 in food matches what the high tech Tnaita said i'd need to maintain my wt, which was aruond 1100. I just don't count the calories in protein AT ALL. And I don't count anything in food except the sugars and volume, and of curse, number of meals. One meal that lasts all day is not one meal. LOL I put at least 2 hrs between meals.
But if I've had an "eaty" day and I've taken all my vites by 4pm, then nothing else for me but protein drinks. Oops. It's the only way I can make sure there's no night eating.
I know you want to lose it quickly, Anita, but eating only 360 calories per day is going to land you in the hospital. Shoot for 1200-1400 calories per day of good, healthy foods - that's lean protein, whole grains, lots of fresh veggies and fruit - avoid refined sugars, salt, and high fat foods, and start exercising if you're not already doing it. If you are already exercising, consider upping the intensity of your workout (meaning increase your heart rate - not increase the duration) and be sure to include strength training. Good luck!
