Sissy I was were you are.  I am 51/2 years out and had gained back 40lbs.  I was very afraid I had ruined my pouch and would not be able to lose.  I really felt like I had failed.  In January of this year I got back to basics and have really taken control of what I eat, my water intake and exercise.  Actually the first few days were the hardest detoxing from sugar.  I started on January 1st, had one piece of my birthday cake on the 2nd and haven't touched it since.  Its amazing how much better I feel and the craviings are gone.   The best part is the40lbs are gone.  It was a real wake up call for me, I will remain focused on what I am doing and not let it crawl back up again. You can do it!   Terri

Hi Sissy!  I also regained 55 lbs.  I'm losing it now.  It's no big secret - I ate too much - through a coupla pregnancies - and now... paying for it.    But, anyways - you are sooo not alone.

HI Sissy I know several individuals who have gained ALL of their weigt back.  You are on the right tack by just knowing what you have to do. YOu will get it off think positive. I am 2 1/2 years out and have been at my goal weight.  I am 5'3 150 pounds and wear a size small 8-10.  I could be another 10-29 pounds lighter if I gave up my weekend celebrations but I chose not to do so.  The secret is to get on that scale frequently.  I get on every day.  There has been enough clinical research proving that successful individuals who keep their weight off weigh themselves no less than once a week and some daily. YOU CAN NOT FOOL THAT SCALE! Our surgery is not the life long answer to our weight loss problem.  It is a tool we have to help us get the weight off and maintain it.  We need to work at it the rest of our lives. I am sure you will be successful getting those found pounds off once again and this time the scale will help you keep them off. Lauretta

Sissy, I'm in the some shoes as you right now!!   I have technically gained about 35 lbs, but only intend to lose 22 - 25 lbs. of it.  I was having some issues related to being under weight, decided to allow myself to gain 5 - 8 lbs...and got WAY carried away!!   Anyway, you're right, we both know that getting back to basics is the way to do...now we need to DO IT!  And hey, in the grand scheme of things 25 - 50 lbs. looks way the heck easier that the amount that faced us pre-op, huh?!  So, nows the time to buckle down and do it.  Let's both commit to NOT being one of those who fail at WLS by regaining all of their weight. Good Luck!!  I'll be working at it "alongside " you! Kathy

I had by RNY bypass May 2002.  I lost almost all of the weight within the first year or so.  The day of the surgery I was 249.  I got down to 119 but I looked sick at that weight.  I actually was sick as I had a lot of complications.  Anyhow,  I gained weight back and I got up to 170!  Now I am around 158 and I am not happy with that weight.  I just started eating SUGAR and lots of it along with the wrong foods.  I still can't eat a lot at one time, so I eat all day.  I am disgusted with myself and I want to get back to around 130 if I can.  Anyhow, you are not alone. Hi everyone           I had my RNY 3 years ago and I went to my primary doctor the other day,   and to no surprise to me I have gained 18 lbs since I last saw him and my blood pressure is up again,  :(  I am again back on high blood pressure pills :(  I have been taking this tool for granted and grazing all day long and eating sweets little by little all day long as a way around getting sick from to much sugar at one time, well I have decided to go back to basics, yesterday I had protein shake for breakfast , protein shake for lunch. And calf’s liver for dinner, a hand full of nuts for snack... today I had two eggs and one piece of beef sausage for breakfast, one chicken leg for lunch, and now I just had a plate of seafood melody for diner, I hope I can stay on track... I have to work on getting my water down now :( Albert
