Not a surgical problem - a self problem.  I made bad choices and I gained back 50lbs.  It has been 3yrs since my surgery. Has anyone ever gained this much and managed to lose it????  I won't call the surgeon, the surgery didn't fail me...I failed the surgery Going back to the basics, I know what I have to do.  Just wondering if anyone has had this happen and been successful in getting it back off. Thanks Sissy

Yes! You can do it! It has been done. Jus****ch and track what you eat and work that pouch! My hubby is 4 years out, had a *cough* bounce of 50 lbs but is now down to below his "lowest" weight after surgery and is delighted. For him it was cutting out the high calorie beverages and not drinking with meals again but SLOWLY over 6 months it was gone.

Sissy, I feel your pain. I am here on this board for the first time in a long time because of my own weight gain as well. We know what to do, we still have the tool and now we just need to execute. It's a new week. We can do it! Molly

I'm with ya too, guys! I'm 6 years out and have put on almost 60 lbs within the last 2 years.  I'm just "workin the pouch" and going back to basics and exercise.  It does get me down sometimes, but hey I'm just going to plow ahead and see what happens!  Good luck to all! N

You can do it!! Be proud that you recognized what was happening and want to do something about it. Stay focused and get a support friend---it really helps---anytime you want to talk feel free to contact me---I also am going "back to the basics"---I had a family crisis in Jan. and have gained 12 lbs---maybe doesn't sound like alot but to someone who knows how fast it can get out of control--it's alot--I ate what I knew I shouldn't and too much. A friend gained back 80 lbs and lost it again in 5 months--focusing on protein and exercise---its not easy buy you are worth it---remember you are not a failure just human----I'm pulling for you april

Thank you all for your responses.  I'm scared to go back to basics, afraid of failing but then again I'm even more scared not to. Wish me luck.  My size 10 clothes miss me and I miss them! Sissy

Sissy, I too failed myself, I gained 60 lbs back,, and decided to go back to basics and get back on track.  Since January I have lost 6lbs, I know it is not alot, but at least I am not gaining.  I know losing will be much harder now, than right after the surgery, but I will lose it.  I hope you do as well. Hi

Can you tell me, when people say they are going to go back to basics, is that like doing what we did when we first had our surgeries??  I have gained back 50 lbs and need help!

Thanks so much!

Lorri, That is exactly what I am talking about.  I didn't do the liquid phase, but restarted at phase 2.  Just making sure I stay away from "white starches" which turninto sugar which turn into fat / added weight.  No rice, potatoes, bread, pasta and sugar.  Go to a lower calorie diet <1000 calories.  Good luck with your journey.  The main thing you have to do is get your mind right to do this and you can . Hi, Sissy.  I'm about 3-1/2 years out, and I have gained almost 30 pounds back, too.  It's really hard to figure things out after surgery I think.  It's like "magic" for a while, where the weight just melts away, and you can even eat "bad" stuff and it doesn't affect you (even though you know you shouldn't be).  That's what I did, then when my body decided it was done losing, and the honeymoon was over, I think I expected the few extra pounds to come back off "magically" like they had been.  That didn't happen, and I continued to gain and deny that I was.  I think I finally woke up to this recently, and have been earnestly trying to stop the gain.  I haven't really lost, but haven't gained in a while either.  I'm exercising more and paying more attention to my diet (although I could still make more changes there). I hope that you will be successful in trying to lose some of this regained weight.  It is heartening to see from the posts here that others have done it.  Good luck to all, and let's stick together here for support.  I really believe that it helps - a lot!!
