Ok, I thought after surgery there would be no more heartburn....2 plus years out I am starting to expierence some.  Is this a sign of anything????  I have an appt with my surg, just seeing if this has happened to anyone else and what they ended up doing.  Of course I will do whatever my surgeon says but very curious..... Thanks for any input.... Betsy

I had terrible heartburn prior to surgery, none afterwards.  Mine, too, has been periodically creeping back in.  I go back on my Prilosec for awhile, and I feel fine for a time afterwards.  The burning pain goes from the belly button up to the breastbone.  After seeing a couple posts here today about heartburn and pouch pain, I finally called my surgeon to ask if there is something that should be checked out.  Haven't heard back from him as yet. Good luck figuring out what is going on with you,

Betsy, I would have this checked out.  My WLS said that if I got heartburn that could be one of the first signs of a staple line disruption.  I don't want to scare you, but definitely get it checked.  I had bad heartburn pre-op and haven't had any since and I'll be 2 years out next month. Michelle

When I heard back from the doctor yesterday, my surgeon's first question was "do you still have your gallbladder?"   Apparently gallbladder problems can manifest themselves as stomach pain/heartburn.  I'm having a gallbladder ultrasound tomorrow to see if that is the problem.  I've had a couple of twinges on the right side of my abdomen, too, off an on.   What did your surgeon say?

My return of heartburn turned out to be gallstones!  I have to make an appointment sometime to have my gallbladder removed.
