That's great to hear Jaimee!!! I've never done any therapy before so I feel the same way~its hard to open up but I think it will be so valuable in the end!

Congrats on getting started on this, Tracy.  I'm looking forward to hearing how it all goes, and whether you think it's helping you.  I'm like Kristi mentioned above, "on the fence."  If the therapist could somehow show me how to acquire willpower, I think I would consider seeing one!  Best wishes as you continue!

Hi Carlita! She did say that we will begin to work on strategies to help me cope with my problem areas so if I find out anything helpful I'll pass it along!!!

Hi Tracy!

I just read your profile and I just had to send you a quick note to say "You go Girl!!!"

You are so smart to deal with your issues before they start rearing their ugly head again.

We all know that the surgeon operated on our tummies not our heads - so huge kudos to you for working on both! I just started therapy myself about a month ago - but it took me a 50+ weight gain and family "issues" to get me there! LOL  I really like my therapist too...she doesn't specialize in eating disorders...but I know the reason I eat is to deal with problems in my life, so getting help with those problems will hopefully bring me to a solution to the over eating as well.  Plus, I had some "adjustments" made to my pouch the other day that will help getting me back in line. Again, I just wanted to let you know how great I think you are doing!  I am also impressed that you made it to your goal!!!  I had a 150 goal too...made it to 167 then started the slide in the wrong direction.  But I've decided I'm gonna get there this time!! Good luck to you! Nicole

I'm happy to hear you like her.  I have been in weekly therapy for over a year now.  I feel like I learn something about myself every time, but it's just recently that I feel like I am making "progress."  I hope the process is quicker for you, but if it isn't, don't despair!  It took us years and years of issues to get fat, live fat, and really immerse ourselves in the eating disorder behavior [or any of the other not so great coping mechanisms we may have].  It's not an overnight recovery, just like WLS wasn't.

It's exciting in the beginning, I remember looking forward to my sessions.  For me I started to dread them, because the of the raw feelings I knew would have to come out, but I always, always, always, come out of a session feeling good that I did it.

Congratulations, again, on your commitment to your health and future!

I will be post-op 4 years next week and have completely forgotten how helpful these boards can be!  I too am struggling with weight gain.  Started at 250, goal of 125, lowest of 123, current 141.  I saw a small part of Carnie Wilson interview this morning on TV and it gave me the courage to post this question.  Has anyone turned to other bad behaviors, such as drinking or gambling or other things, to compensate for not being able to overeat?  If anyone out there has done this, have you been able to stop or get help?  I am looking for help and answers and hope someone out there can assist.  Thanks!
