Hi Alesia - thanks for responding to my inquiry about protein balls, sounds good & I'll have to try  them.   I starting today writing down what I eat and will begin posting tomorrow.  I eat mindlessly and seriously can't remember what I ate yesterday - not good! My new focus is on what I must have in my diet - protein, fiber, water, etc. - hoping it will 'weed out' some of the craving for junk. My father is in end stage congestive heart failure - gives me a good excuse let go.  I'm trying to allow myself 'feel the pain' rather than eating my way through it.  I've cried all morning - rather than eat all morning.  I feel good about that.

Carol, I'm so sorry about you father, grief is so hard to deal with and I too am a very emotional eater, so I can relate to "just letting it all go"...I'm trying even on the worst of days to remember that protein is vital to us posties, got a great reminder last week from another post-er that I don't always remember this important part of my eating day...I know from lurking thru many other posts that we are not the only ones for whom food has been a way to avoid feelings, I realized soon after I had my surgery that I was using food to push down ALOT of feelings, pre-surgery I really thought I got fat because I liked good food...Still struggling with emotional eating and think this might always be the case, so for now I'm trying to keep this post going and see if it will help me and maybe others as a tracking device and reminder of what to do for tomorrow, the next day, and thereafter... Please come back and post with us, I'm not critical of other peoples food, I'm just worried about my own and find honesty in posting, both bad and good choices works for me...

Hi Connie, Wish I was on a plan to Germany, my best friend is german and lives near Munich,  would love to see her...Looks like you had a pretty decent food day, are you in maintenance or still trying to loose? Forgot about April Fools, maybe there's still time to pull something on my kids (LOL)...

Hi, Alesia!  My husband goes to Munich sometimes but this time flew into Frankfurt and then took a train to Augsburg (sp.?) to the plant there. I have been maintaining, give or take 10 pounds, for over a year.  I would love it if I lost another 25 pounds - but not bad enough to do anything differently than I'm doing now.  LOL  I can live for the rest of my life doing what I'm doing and I don't feel "deprived" so I'll be content w/150-160!   With hubby gone, I'll have to April Fool the cats !  Have a good 'un!!

Hugs,
Connie

YUM, Couscous, haven't had that in a long time, will have to check out the label stats next time I am shopping...I tried these shiritake noodles (they're Asian) in a Thai noodle salad recipe this past week, they were really awesome,...Could not tell the difference in them and regular seminola noodles...With the recipe flavors from the sauce  the noodles really absorb surrounding flavors and best of all one serving has only 20 calories and 3 carbs, no added sugar, only 1 protein but since I eat them with a protein like chicken or beef its cool anyway... See ya tomorrow...

Whole wheat couscous is something else that I never knew existed until after surgery. I am doing the Core plan of weigh****chers and I am trying new grains. Couscous so far is my absolute favorite. I eat it almost every day with something or other. It has 170 calories per serving, 7g fiber, 6g protein. It reminds of grits. I love how filling it is and I feel good knowing I'm eating something whole grain and healthy.  Candy

Hi,  I used to be around here alot.   I am 5 years post op and doing pretty well.  I sure could use some accountability with the food though!  So here goes:    Breakfast:  Protein bar    Lunch :Chicken breast, potato, green beans    Dinner:  Meatloaf...Mashed potato..    Snack:  sf pudding    Snack:  small bowl of popcorn with cheddar cheese.   Tommorrow's goal:  more vegetables.  I filled up on the meatloaf and potato....no room for the veggies.  ugh.   Even after 5 years, I have a tough time judging just how much room I have in this stomach.
