Prescription strength flonase is my best friend when allergie****  Benedryl dries me out too much and makes me sleepy...not nearly as effective as flonase

I take OTC Claritin every day, as well as Flonase (not OTC) but the absolute best thing I've taken is Sudafed -- NOT Sudafed PE, but the stuff you have to get from the pharmacist and sign for.   Also the Sudafed/Guaifenesin combination (Sudafed Non-Drying Sinus, I think it's called) is REALLY good. Good luck!  I'm having a horrible time right now, also.... Lisa

I use the claritin and the prescription flonase which now comes in generic so it is not so expensive anymore.  I am suffering too.  THis allergy season is terrible. Melissa

It is best to see an allegeergist, they really help.  I use zyrtec (it is 1x/day), singulair (used for asthma and allergies) and flonase (a nasal spray).  Zyrtec works well with me, better than Allegra and claritin.  OTC , I siometimes use sudafed.  The problem with most otc meds is that they make you drowsy and they must be taken ever 4-6 hours.  Most new prescription meds are taken only 1x/day.
